RF Burn
« on: 18 October 2016, 18:35:32 »

One of my RF burns decided to pop out of my thumb today, its only taken 24 years to work itself to the surface.  :o

Thumbs a bit sore now, with a kind of small hole in it, just hope it heals ok.  :-\

Hell's bells, that's a long gestation period - what were you working on at the time?

Antenna Output of some Combining Equipment, being fed with 3 x 120W Paging Transmitters (VHF).

Had just finished Commissioning it, all tested and running, was just just about to close the Cabinet and walk out when I realized I'd left my Bird Thruline hanging of the back. Tried to be clever, as it would have been such a pain to switch the system down again, I thought I would quickly disconnect the meter and managed to stick my thump briefly on the output N type Plug lead, didn't take long to realize what I'd done.  :( ::)

I was a radio engineer with Plessey, so I know exactly what you have done and you have my sympathy - ouch!

Errrr....no. They had a massive place on Edge Lane in Liverpool and, despite them being a high-tech company, we still had to go in and fix their PABX.
