Not to derail the subject matter of this thread but I can't help but smile at the contradictory pietism being employed by some over opinionated contributors between our new King and the Irish schoolteacher who had the temerity to stand by his religious beliefs ...

It seems to me Don, that if you are really determined to watch leftie propaganda from the likes of Sky and the BBC, then the easiest way is to move back to dear old Blighty!  :)
Yeah , the news is weighed to the left with spades of doom and gloom , but every news channel has an angle . I used to flick through Sky 501 to 513 each morning but have now stopped it as it was all merde .

As for returning to UK , we lived in Toddington prior to coming over here some 19 years ago .
Loved it , it had everything we needed and more , quintessential little English town close to ,but far enough away ,from "shopping" towns .
Ruined now .
What about going back home to Scotland ?
F\/ck that , they're all mental up there  ........My old village has been swallowed up by a sea of baby poo brown "semi's" inhabited by nationalist Chavs in SUV's .
I used to bemoan Ireland but you know it's been good to us in many ways .
Now if I could only get tv squeezed  down that fibre optic ............ :)

About to look into this and thought I'd seek advice from any who have it here first .
I've got two Sky receivers , both picking up Sky UK from a dish with quad LNB's.These use simple non contract free to air cards .
I don't have ,never had, nor wish  Irish TV reception , UK only.
My problem is that the signal is becoming very poor due to neighbours tree growth at the rear of garden . This is exacerbated due to the fact that we are on a steep incline and the dish is set at a shallow 28 degrees . Weather also has a huge impact so when there is mist or heavy rain the signal strength drops to zero.
Even with the trees being topped ( permission granted ) the reception is poor to average resulting in picture loss and pixleation .
I've got 54 MB fibre optic broadband so I'd like to get these F2A stations via the internet.
We already have Netflix so don't really need a system that offers third party packages although I'd go that route if necessary .
Is it possible to use a VPN along with an "app " on our smart TV's to give me what I'm looking for ?
Or any other suggestions ?
Thanks .

Replaced the crank sensor and fuel filter .
Crank sensor was awkward but did it on a post lift which made the removal of the heat shield, engine mount and oil dip tube "easier " . Found the old one had abrasion damage to the cable so I was pleased that the reason for failure was obvious .
Doing an 80 mile round trip almost daily just now so decided to give the Yeti a rest and use the Omega over the weekend .
I recently fitted new Bilstein B4's and had the tracking/alignment and camber set to WIM's figures.  I have to say that the roads that I travel , although beautiful , are pretty rough in places but the Omega just glides over them with ease . It was a very enjoyable run and brought back to me the fact that these were very comfortable cars .
Next job will be to recommission the climate control system .

Omega General Help / Re: X20XEV crankshaft sensor replacement .

You have to remove the bracket as the wiring runs between the block and the bracket to prevent it being cooked by the exhaust if I remember from my Cavalier X20XEV

Not sure what you mean .
By bracket do you mean engine mount ?

Omega General Help / X20XEV crankshaft sensor replacement .
« on: 16 June 2022, 19:32:01 »
Cut out three times yesterday whilst driving , started on the key immediately each time .
Test revealed 0335 fault code , crankshaft sensor incorrect or open circuit .
New genuine sensor en route from MD .It was last changed 17 years ago by MD so can't really complain.
The "how to " says to remove the engine mount to get at it but looking at it it would seem to be easier (or as much difficulty)  to remove power steering pump as the sensor is right behind .
Anyone changed it by removing pump ?

An extremely difficult and heartbreaking thing to do .
I do know how you feel as I've had to do it four times with our cats .
I wish I could say something to make it easier Steve but I'm afraid love hurts.

She really was lovely ,and loved .
Deep breath and chin up .......

NCT (MOT) passed with no advisories on the Omega .
Test conducted at 10.45 pm on a Friday night .....appointment was made in April and this was first slot available . ::)
The privately run National Test operation in Ireland is very efficient . ;D

I wear one at each and every opportunity , have hand sanitizer in all the vehicles and look for and use it upon entering every shop or public building I go into.
My wife has been in the Stroke Recovery Ward for two months after suffering three devastating strokes and I will not, and cannot ,risk being a carrier .
The ward has been closed to visiting twice in the time she has been in Hospital resulting in all visits being cancelled , which is a particularly difficult thing to have to bear . This was most likely due to it being brought in by visitors , including possibly me .
It's still out there and I now know what the personal results of it being transmitted by those that don't care anymore are .
Desperately sorry to hear of this, I wish you both well.

Thank you .  :y

Not wishing to steer the thread away (much), I've been feeling a bit 'under the weather' lately. Nothing specific, just the odd headache, occasional tingling in places that really shouldn't tingle. Anyway, last night I remembered that I had a blood pressure monitor in the cupboard and thought I'd check it. Jeez......191/89. That can't be right, surely. Do it again.....189/87. Nah, machine must be fooked, try it on wifey...90/65. Shit.
So I phone the docs at 8 this morning, told the receptionist what it was about and, bingo, an appointment this aft. You usually need a letter from God to get an appointment, so that didn't cheer me up at all. At the appointment I was half expecting/hoping that I was wasting his time. But, no, same high readings. He said they were dangerously high and left it at that. Gave me Amlodipine 5mg, one a day and I have to go back in 10 days.
When I got home and googled those readings I shit meself. Phrases like 'high risk of stroke' certainly make for sober reading. So I've taken it upon myself to start a new, healthier regime tomorrow, I hope I can stick to it. I can't bear the thought of putting Mo through what Don is going through, it would be emotionally and financially ruinous.
Well , that's a salutary lesson for you Steve .
I naively believed that strokes were as seen in the recent "FAST" TV ads ie visual and immediately apparent.
It was only after Sheilagh had been diagnosed as having the first two strokes that I did a search and shamefully discovered that I could tick every box on the numerous symptoms that were described .
High blood pressure , extreme fatigue ,poor balance and slow walking , nausea and sickness , loss of hearing in one ear (that she incorrectly diagnosed as a build up of wax ) short term memory problems and slight disorientation and most of all high blood sugar levels ( she has type 2 diabetes. ) .
I was very angry with myself as although I wasn't aware of all the symptoms she was experiencing I had been of some of them and had insisted that she see a Doctor, which thankfully I arranged.
She had an MRI scan after being admitted to hospital and it confirmed that at that point two " events " had occurred unfortunately the third and worst took place 10 days after her admission .
My point of this post is to alert you all to the reality of the symptoms of stroke over the albeit welcome , but rather misleading , signs given in the ad. campaigns .
I was unaware of the truly devastating effects that this dreadful condition brings and can only urge you all to question and consider every "odd or unusual " feeling you have when you get on in years .

Steve I too have had to reassess my diet and regime eating less and better and dusting down the most expensive clothes hanger I have , ie the treadmill ...and using it gently but regularily .
Good luck ,stick to it as it has to be worth it .  :y

Thanks Lads .
There have been some pretty dark days since early April.
It brought home to me the fragility of life and how quickly it can all change .
We planned retirement for years and she took early retirement last October .
It was all supposed to start this year but will now have to wait .
I just look for small , very small , improvements as often as possible and hope for the best .
I say this in all sincerity , reach out to your wife or partner , give her a big cuddle and tell her you love her , because ..........

Very sorry to read about your wife Don,we count our blessings each day, life can be so unfair to some folk who have worked all their lives and make plans for their retirement & have it snatched away in an instant , pray that she makes a full recovery. We both still wear our masks in supermarkets etc

Thank you .... :y
