Hi

Realise this has probably been asked a lot but having a trawl through the site I can't find a part number for the red coolant. Also got a bit confused about this dex cool stuff, I see this on fleabay, and also other stuff, is it not dexcool you want but the other stuff - other stuff didn't say dexcoll specifically but need to confirm via part number or equivalent?

Also snapped my coolant drain plug, put up a wanted, but if anyone knows where I can get these, or anyone has one? Is the black one ok to use, as mine was red colour?

The correct pink VX antifreeze is 93165162. Comes in a 5 ltr container.
The red plastic drain plug has been replaced by VX with a black one.
I wanted to replace the red one on mine with another red one, so I got a Febi drain plug from Eurocarparts - exactly the same as the original red one in every respect. Its common to a few other makes, but the Euro part no was 200220050 - £2.59 including.

I have a feeling the black rad drain plug does not properly seal if used in a rad design for red plugs, so they are not interchangable

Any idea if it is it vx only part or are copies made?

just replace the two O rings

If the original was red, then get a red one to replace it. Like I said earlier, the red one from ECP packaged as Febi was 100% identical to my original VX drain plug, and fitted perfectly with no leaks. Possibly may have come from the same manufacturer. If you want to buy a VX one, the odds are that it won't be a red one, and will probably cost you more, and won't do the job any better than a Febi one. I usually prefer genuine VX parts but if the one I want is not available, then other makes have to do. I think you are over complicating it, to be honest.

I paid £2.59 for the Febi plug including VAT. By the time you have found the correct size 'O' rings, is it worth messing around? The original is likely to be brittle and therefore weakened, so I know what I would do.....

I couldn't find the febi one on the ECP site search so done a google search and it came up.

Looks ok and can reserve and pick up from my local branch, it does say it doesn't fit the current car I have selected i.e omega. Strange as it looks exactly the same:

That's the exact one I bought and it's 12 months since I fitted it and it's still ok.
