I am prepared to pay for the belt and water pump to be done but I know no-one who can do the job. I have asked Loo Knee and James V6 and they are too busy till the weekend or middle of next week.
I am NOT trying to save a few quid by not getting it done.
I have paperwork that says it was done in august last, but I do not believe it.
What reason do you have to believe it hasnt been done?
Because the receipt I have is for £97.25 on a piece of A5 paper and handwritten and a little sticker with a garage name on it.

You can't even do it for that DIY

Ring the garage and ask for a vat receipt, if not genuine, report someone
I tried that, it is a discontinued number.
So, alarms bells were ringing from that moment forward

So, have I good enough reason to DISBELIEVE this person?

Oh definately, and I would also be worried about the service history in that case too

We are all forgetting something here!!!!!

The person I purchased the car off is a member here. And I do not believe that we will ever see him on here again.
You all know who he is and I do not need to publish his name here do I?

Can we cut across the assorted crud floating around here, perhaps?

The purchaser of this car is not happy that the belt and tensioners have been changed as per schedule.

A foreign holiday is looming.

Prices quoted appear more than is wanted to spend.

Will the belt last out?

Get an AA/RAC/Green Flag recovery card and a mobile and give it a go for about 1000 miles abroad.  If it breaks and causes a potential fair cost of a rebuild, use the phone and recovery card to get home and break the car and get some of your cash back.

..... or, bite the bullet ans spend the dosh and get it done to give peace of mind.

No need to bounce around in circles.......

I dont....  And I'm not overly fussy either.  You entered a deal with your eyes (and expertise, suitably fortified by the forum) and are now asking advice?  Hey ho...
