It will be cheaper, and less stressful

We'll wait and see on that one.

Not found a car yet that does not have its issues and I do like the A8's just not the mpg of the petrol's.

I also like the Chrysler 300 diesel

There is reference to 1 in 4 having mental issue's in another post so lets not even go there. :D

I have to admit to test driving a 2.0 auto estate in the days before I bought my first 'proper' Omega .......a white 3.2 plod estate.

Oh boy was that two litre auto a slug..... ;D ;D

Driven quite a few of them and they are all slugs, that's why I went for one that delivered the most economy with the most toys.

Far to much weight to go round corners properly or accelerate with any gusto but they are a lot of car for the money and a well set up one still drives nice given the age of the design.

Next will be an 3.0tdi A8 for me once this one gets more aggro than its worth.

Omega General Help / Re: Home made coolant pressure tester...

Why not use a tyre valve in a spare pressure cap?  ::) http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90598.0

You know that is a really good idea....and so simple. :y

I do like a bit of ingenuity.

Normally its the back of the valves that get the worst of the carbon build up and this can really affect performance as it affects flow.
I would be more interested if it could clean the crap of the inside of my intake manifold (due to the EGR) without me having to take the thing apart. Trouble is I don't believe it would work and would just be a waste of time and money. Sometimes the only way to do things is to pull the engine apart and do it manually.

Oh what fun!  :(

Have mine on 20c.

Only trouble I have had with the AC is that madam moans that she gets too cold?

I have though found a nice compromise, Climate on 20c, air nozzles set to footwells and windows open. Nice cool feet and fresh air up top.  :D

And the wife is happy!!! :y

Omega General Help / Re: Carpets
« on: 07 July 2014, 14:22:17 »
Well whoopdi...kingdo ::) besides that's not a 2002my car...

The carpets from a '51 plate Elite that I fitted with the interior didn't. Since replaced with ones from an '03 CD which did...

They were dropped by the bean counters along with the heel pad... both reintroduced for the final production run iirc :y

If your car is a '51 or '02 reg then consider it normal... as a rule, only fitted upto late 2000 and from late 2002 onwards 2003my cars :y

Vauxhall / LMF for new ones unless you know a reputable trimmer to make a set. Genuine ones should come with suitable fittings as well :y
Edited to satisfy the pedants ::)

Now that would explain why my 95 did and my 03 doesn't.

Bloody annoying as it keep moving.

A wealth of information the internet/OOF.

« on: 07 July 2014, 11:14:19 »
The diff would be the major suspect in my book. Diff noise usually determined by loading and unload with the throttle and will normally disappear after a certain speed.

Not hard to change. It's just that you have to be sure the one you are changing it with is a good one.

I had one go on mine and it gets really annoying as it was right on the motorway cruising speed.

I hope their parts are better than their English!

The spelling leaves a lot to be desired too. :)

283
I use it a lot in motorway roadworks and the like, as its all too easy for speed to creep up in those average speed areas.

 :y

That's about the only time I use it as any other time (unless real late at night) there is just to much traffic. I think some of it may come down to where you live as around here it's just to congested but in other areas further out it's pretty clear.

Boy you were lucky to find that so quick.

Nothing like an intermittent electrical fault to ruin your week.

General Discussion Area / Re: Playing with H1N1
« on: 04 July 2014, 22:29:28 »
H1N1 is a flu strain that has killed to date over 500,000 people worldwide.

Dr Yoshihero Kawaoka at the University of Wisconsin's Influenza Virus Research has been playing around with this virus to make it much more dangerous to humans as part of his research into future vaccines. Where I live not far from the 2007 escape of the Foot and Mouth virus from Pirbright and can also remember lab technicians catching Smallpox in 1973 and 1978 due to mistakes, this is relying on no accidents or mistakes because if there are any we could be in for a nasty pandemic for which there is currently no vaccine. :o :o :o

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2677359/Controversial-scientist-recreates-H1N1-flu-virus-killed-500-000-people-version-RESISTANT-vaccine.html

Are you comfortable that he is carrying out this research?

That's nothing compared to the death toll caused by car related incidents.
