Omega General Help / Re: Strange noise
« on: 10 January 2017, 21:27:25 »
Feeling a bit stupid, haven't used the car for a long time and have simply forgotten its to remind you to remove your keys and after leaving the lights on it sharpened  up the noise or brought it back to life my brain that is.Thanks for your replies!!

Also just a quicky does the sunroof dial have a light? My elite does but my cdx doesn't or at least its not working if there is one in their?

The water could be the bolts and washers holding the bridge as they don't look very new if the oil cooler has been changed recently!

General Discussion Area / Re: Some advice please cooker.

There is another solution you could try and that is to get a supply to the cooker which doesn't have an rcd. If its damp it may just dry it out as it could just be the beginning of a fault as trips can be very sensitive. Obviously you need to keep an eye on it whilst trying this method and if it works trying hooking it back up to the rcd and the fault may have cleared. You would need an insulation/resistance tester to check the element an stats can cause a problem too.

Omega General Help / Re: plenum vacuum
« on: 28 December 2016, 12:37:41 »
Hi there,Yes the ecotec strip is i believe where the air is being sucked in,about halfway down there is a part of this strip which pushes down into the plenum. When i heard it first of all i rechecked and there was an O ring on it,maybe that is not sealing correctly which may mean a new one,car has driven fine for the last few months until this long break coinciding with the eml light coming on.By the way my brother in law recently visited Norway on a cruise ship and really enjoyed it!!

I thought I saw a washer where the plastic strip running down the centre of the plenum enters the plenum about halfway down. If you put your hand there you can here the hissing stop,i'll have to recheck and take photo when the weather warms up a bit

Omega General Help / plenum vacuum
« on: 28 December 2016, 11:19:26 »
Hi all, earlier in the year i changed the oil cooler and when everything was refitted i could here the plastic strip on the plenum sucking air,I took it back off to check that it was sealed but the problem persists. Does it require a new washer where it enters the plenum because thats where the sound is? and anyone have a part number? Have to say that this 2.6 is more livelier than my other and its an estate and the eml light just came on but maybe unrelated 0300 code

General Car Chat / Re: So what have you done to your car today?
« on: 28 December 2016, 11:13:02 »
Just took the omega in for its mot and as i haven't used the car for 3 months the eml light came on.It passed the mot without problem apart from the eml light being an advisory, hopefully a bit of using will correct it.Fault code of 0300 it didn't sound right but on the way back it sounded back to normal, will keep an eye on this and hopefully light will go out.

The key has always worked fine but the battery has never been this flat because the car has always been in use.I didn't want to break anything on my 2nd day back so here seemed a very good place to start as the advise given is invaluable to those of us less knowlegeable but learning. Many thanks to all
