Not part of a service schedule. More likely to deal with a rough idle. Which was (hopefully) eventually diagnosed as oil flooded spark plug wells.

Vauxhall had some sort of arrangement with the manufacturer so they could sell it cheaply to the dealers.

I guess it is an additive similar to old fashioned Redex that I used to apply direct into the air intake on old carburettored cars, or adding a dose to the fuel tank. Couldn't really see or feel any advantages then; it was just considered in that era to be beneficial to clear any supposidly gummed up deposits in the fuel system. Also it sent clouds of smoke over the neighbours washing.... :D
I think it was more a case of 'up selling' rather than being beneficial - maybe the physiological effect of knowing the additive had been added improved the cars running....?? :y
I have never really put much faith in additives of any description. Slick 50 in the 90's ( was it?) is another example of an additive that was unnecessary. My belief is that if these products make such an improvement, then surely they would be added to fuels or oils at the time of refining / manufacture???

As johnnydog says that will have been added[or not] due to up selling by the service receptionist rather than as a part of the service schedule.
