She'll get an A1 if she wants one, but certainly not 110bhp.

It'll probably be the 1.5 petrol with 150bhp, 0-60 in just over 7 secs.

Is that wise?

110 BHP is more than enough for a girlie 'runabout' :) :)

Quite a nippy engine.  :y. Economy is pretty good for a petrol engine as well, if driven sensibly. Not sure if they all have it but when coasting/cruising the management system can turn off two cylinders for economy, so if you see ‘COD’ in an Audi advert it means ‘cylinder on demand’ and has nothing to do with fish.  :)

Some of the big American pick-ups have that, so you can get 8 mpg on a run rather than 6mpg!  ;D

And a top end rebuild every 40k ;D

Still, being an LS based engine, deleting it is easy enough.

 Pretty common 50 years ago.

Cars for sale adverts would often say things like.....45000 miles new engine fitted, or, excellent condition engine decoked and rebored at 50,000 miles.

Spend the morning doing a de-coke and in the afternoon stuff bunched up newspaper into the sills before covering over with Isopon and thick underseal ::)

"it feels way quicker than the 110hp would suggest"

Presumably that's car journo speak for "its noisy in here"

A wise move, the 110 is horribly slow, that said the neighbour has just bought the 1.5 in a Q3 and in that larger platform, it also slow and strained, probably not so bad in a Seat Ibiza/VW Polo/Audi A1

75bhp in the Ibiza wasn't unreasonable.

110 in the A1 will be fine. The Q being a turgid suv type thing with all the finesse of a Jaegerbomb

Sounds like you owned a 3 year old Austin 1100/1300. ;D ;D

Hopefully enough to get it through it's first MOT. :D
