Now I know I can be a bit contrary, but surely, if it has been repainted, then it cannot be original

They are an absolute bargain at the moment, keep telling SWMBO this but she hasn't weakened yet, I saw a lovely one earlier this week up for £23,000.

Agreed. Most were literally thrown together by people who had no interest in their job. Much the same applies to the E-Type in the sixties.
