Brake Light Warning Message
« on: 05 November 2022, 15:46:46 »

Past week or so "warning rear brake light message " has appeared at regular intervals on display.

All 3 brake lights are working as they should and nothing has disturbed them recently.Bulbs are probably 1 + years old,so will replace both lower ones but any idea why message has recently started appearing

The system measures current draw, and if its not what is expected, it will throw the message.

Hence, check they work, then reseat each bulb, and try new bulbs.  Note, the upper brake light rarely causes any grief.

As they are working, try a reseat of the existing ones first, which usually worked for me when my Omega used to do such things.  Quick 'n' easy, and only takes 2 mins, and is free - my kind of fix.

When it stops raining, obviously.

Found a box of GM brake bulbs and 8 orange indicator bulbs whilst rummaging in the spares box,so might give it a treat and just put new ones in as to all tends they are as free now. >:D ;)

Thanks for heads up though  :y

Sorry to drag this back up again .

Both rear brake light bulbs replaced with new  Osram brand and despite all 3 working with and without night lights warning message still appears .

Seems to be on first brake after start up and will continue for 12 or more stops then like magic doesn’t re appear for hour or more driving then randomly pops back up again despite all 3 still working .

Assume there is a check box or similar ?… do they fail ?? or produce intermittent errors

Check control module is up under the dash behind the glove box from memory.

Could also be a sign of moisture in a plug ;)

Which given the weather of late...

You may well be spot on with that DG as it’s only recently started and puzzling all 3 lights are working .

Just hope it dries out as warning message is becoming tiresome

Think I have cured problem ....took both new bulbs out and replaced with cheap set I got from Hellfrauds yesterday just to see if throwing £3=00 at it made any difference.

Amazed as no warning message has appeared on my 100 mile drive to work and back this morning even in the rain.

Fingers crossed problem resolved but strange 2 sets of working bulbs had the issue and cheap set doesnt....well so far
