Hi guys...iz there a part available to fix this rust issue? Anything at all?

Omega has new rear panels, new rocker panels, is completely sorted and was repainted this spring. I didin't even think it would rust trough where the shock is.
I don't want to scrap it

The shock turret can theoretically be replaced by drilling the spot welds and welding in a replacement turret removed from a rust free inner quarter.

I had an at length debate on here with Terry Paget on the very subject.

Obviously there will be those that insist that it can't be done.

The actual turret panel is about 6" square and if you remove the rear wheel arch liner or boot trim, you can clearly see it.

In theory it would have been available as a separate piece.

A good welder will replace that section with an available part
probably won't be a "rust free" omega panel though

Pull the boot carpet before hand so they have a clear picture as soon as they open the boot.

something like this example clcicky , welded in ,just a case of finding something that fits ,big enough to replace the section of rot .

Had this on our sedan. Left shock went through the turret. Cut a turret out of a car at the scrap yard and got someone to weld it in. Couple of years later same thing happened to the right shock. Just by coincidense it happened on the way to the Opel dealer for some programming. Dealer welded it back up the same day. Several years ago and car is still in daily use. Wasnt that expensive either.

I can't see that working due to the shape of the affected area.

that actual unit may be of use if cut down and used as the mounting bit only .depending on how far the rust has extended.
otherwise an easy enough area to fix with (as mentioned) an omega section or a suitable alternative. its only a rounded section after all.

It would make a decent mould for a prosthetic arm. The surface the shock mounts against isn't actually flat

So.....I dont't know how you call this profession, but I took omega to the shop, where they took measures for turret tops and will make them from 2mm thick bent and welded sheet metal. The owner - very old bloke, was surprisingly impressed by omega and othervise rust free body of it.
But, there's always a but....body shop which will replace turret tops is fully booked until the middle of January.

yes good idea.
i did mine a while back. just some surface rust and dealt with accordingly.
but that how it all starts !

anyway a bit cold for playing out today !

getting the rust off is important. forthis or ANY repairs.
for years ive used rust killers and they only work to a degree but now recently been using the only permanent solution.
a mini sandblaster gun. why i never thought of it gears ago i dont know.bit fiddly and slow but does work 100%.
various other methods like gels and the like but sandblasting rusty areas works for me.
then obviously paint and protect it thoroughly(after repairing anything if found !)

Ok, thanks -4 is really too cold for maintenance outside. Just checked that London had today around zero, didn't know that you can have such weathers. We had colder than -10 already in November here in west coast where I live. In Lappland they already have had more than -20. Summer in Finland is usually ok, not too hot, yes and no snow...
