Maintenance Guides / Replace your glovebox handle/the cheat way
« on: 12 October 2010, 16:37:29 »
I was just about to replace mine and one of the screws will not shift. and is well stuck. I cant get impact driver on it to get it out that way.

so after some head scratching I come up with the cheats way to fit a new one.

so here go`s.

The backing plate of handle can easily be removed from door by carefully cutting and snapping it out with a sharp pair of side cutter`s

when I looked at the new handle it appeared to me,that It should snap in. what was stopping it ?

on the bottom on backing plate there is no give in the sides at the bottom

so I cut a V out of plastic say at about 4-5mm wide and 8-10mmdeep with side cutters

here

Now there would be some give in side and I should be able to snap it in place.

and it does with a bit of care

push the left hand side tags on handle in first on the passenger side. Then from the driver  side you can can carefully using a small flat head screwdriver bent that side in just enough for it to pop in place

Job done with in 3mins flat without having to pull all the glove box out :y
if a lazy bloke like me

It best to ft with out lock barrel in then snap that after handle is fitted without the lock barrel in place

just remember to keep key in barrel so the pins don't fall out all over he place

or it will take you a  fair while to finger out witch pin goes where

they you can just snap in lock barrel

2
ill try that then need to pull it out to do climate control bulbs

as a coulpe have gone

I use to do it one in a blue moon but it geting a right pain now

thanks

I wonder what 2 in paralel would be like

hence the question i was working weather to use a relay due to power drawor not

but it the acured to me its may be best use one as even if horn cuircut can handel the current draw

the horn button on wheel may not and it wouldent be cool if conacts welded there self closed lol ;D

remeber over 20 years ago when i was a young lad
and everyone wanted dukes of hazard air hourns a rather thick freind of ours

i knew thort it be funny to honk a tune at a group of hookes standing on a courner. one night at 2 am in the morning

should have seen his face when they stuck on and hes got head under bonnet with going full blast in his lug holes

trying to shut them up while half a dozen hookers are taking the piss

followed by us in car behind ;D ;D ;D

dont think he ever lived that down guy was a right muppet same guy that got pissed and spent all night try to chat up a tranny to someone had a ward in his ear

pity that we wanted tosee what happend when he found out about meat and two veg the hard way lol.

« on: 12 September 2010, 04:55:20 »
right IM a bit confused from reading about

ie some post iv read seem to sergest the power sounding siron only gos off as a back up when batter is disconected and when alam gos off the horn sounds

well iv got a miniface lift and when ever the alarm was trigered It was alwaly a siren sound not horn

its gave up the gost now set alam off and no sound only flashing indicators

doce any one know what the wireing is to power sounder ie pin outs are

as i was think there so much a pain why can we just wire another siren to alam without the nicads in just a normal siren

loaded a new "aquired"  :o  :-X  version of Navteq yesterday, on the way to work this morning the ice warning came up every 30 seconds on my 20 minute journey to work. Bloody annoying! Is this due to the new disc or a coincidence with another fault? It seemed to be timed too accurately to be a random problem tbh. Anyone else had this?  Ta.

any tip on "aquireing" :D

« on: 26 June 2011, 06:20:41 »
i gave up on fooking around with my alarm had a bloody mind of it own

tried new bonnet switch changed all door switches , brort a second hand power sounder then a brand new one.

final solution was chuck power sounder in bin and take a pair of wire cutters to the alarm horn wire as well

silence is bliss ;D :y
