Omega General Help / Re: Spraying
« on: 08 May 2011, 07:53:02 »
what paint you get ?

if its halffors crap dont bother

with decent paint
ie mixed at local factors and put in there cans

warming cans in warm water helps stop can spiting
proper gear and compressor better option

rub down/flat with 600 grit
wipe down so greas and dust free

dont even thing of spray if panels is colder than 10degC

spray primer prity easy to spray

if you cant spray primer give up now  ;D
spray a guide coat
rub down/flat with 600 grit
rub down flat with 800 grit

spray color much harder to spray
dont lay it on too much light even coats

clear coat very hard to spray right with out practice
do dot spray if it humid as it will milk
spray tac/light coat let flash too its still a bit tacky

lay on next coat wet all most to point of runs very hard to do with out practice

if you want a show finish flat with 1200 grit
and re-polish buff to mirror finish
if you aint painted much go to local body shop and save your self the ball ache

the above is the short guide
as there much that can go wroung

my best advice is call you local smart repair guy and hell problem do it for 50 quid or less
it will be cheaper as by time you brought paint paper get pissed off cleaner

it will be cheaper any way and he do a puck job :D

may have still had some in there or stuck in heater matrix

ie had heater on while it was leaking the not having it one

plus it hard to fully drain the v6 with out getting at the coolant pipe right at back of engine
it a bugger to flush

i got court out on sticking old blue coolant in after i thort  id drained it fully and flushed it

only to find out i hadn't and spent another week end
flushing the sludge out from it mixing

it was at for 2 dat day with rad flush and keeping stciking the hose pipe on full blast in every water pipe i could
for a few days

No i swear it did

you now the ushal 17-19 around town and about just under 30 on a run motorway etc

i had also changed the dis pac so at first of thort that was helping MPG

but was getting about 29 around town and that quite a difference

soon as i had it off and it was reconnected was back to normal mpg wise

i was quite surprised that it seem to make such a difference

Omega General Help / may bit of a daft question but here gos
« on: 05 May 2011, 00:35:17 »
one time when i was redoing one of the cam cover banks

I had forgot to stick one of the pipes back on the under the pendulum when i put it back

to do with the muilti ram

a couple of days before dath came to up mine to do me water pump and cam belt and he saw it when we took it off

I knew it was down on power a bit but amused it was the inlet to brige gasket that disintegrated that was leaking doing it

as i had bogged it to the one i ordered turned up

but it want that bad and drove fine

but the odd side effect  and point of thread was the while it was disconnected the petrol consumption when up to like over 30 to the gallon around town

compared with the ushall 17 or so on the 3L if you got a big foot in town

Im curious if it would do any harm running like that ?

I did seem to run odd at all for them 2 or 3 days just dident have the top end raw grunt but drove fine other than that

but dont know if it would do long term damage to car
I dont know enouth about it or how muilti rams stuff or how it  works

but im thinking if it just a case of it wont hurt anything

if say you fitted a switch operated solenoid to the pipe

you could save a fooking fortune in petrol when your not in a hurry buy switching it off

and when you want power switch back on

anyone know

Omega General Help / Re: Very odd steering issue
« on: 24 January 2011, 05:31:20 »
Its just dawned on me its only right turns as well

done it yesterday morning when i got back turning in to my drive

I dont know how the progresive steering thing works

is it posible that some sensor are screwing up making it think its at high speed

as it dont not seem that the power steering gos fully just it stiffens up for a few seconds

but id got use to as both elites iv have have done it

« on: 24 January 2011, 05:25:35 »
both omegas iv had have done this

ie once in a blue moon when turning the steering will go heavy just for a second or two

then be fine ushall it only seems to do when its very cold weather wise

its like the progresive thing cocks up for a second

it feels like about the same prusure as when yyour at high speed with the omega and the steering stiffens up as it supost to do

I love to know what it is it dont seem a major problem but its anoying

this ones had a new ABS ECU so it aint that mine only on about 80 90 thousand so i dout its the steering pump

you can open the doors with a slim if its not double locked on a omega

can make one out of a cheap thin metal ruler or some of that metal packing case tape

UPDATE:

New leads, new DIS coil pack (BERU, no BOSCH in stock - they showed me the ARC one and it didn't appear as well made and the electric connector wasn't was well designed. The BERU unit appeared identical to the BOSCH one and is OEM also apparently....).
DIS - £76 (I got a discount as they didn't have the bosch in stock)
Leads - £27

Anyway, a bit easier to put everything together thankfully! Best advice I would give is to resist hurrying this part, make sure everything is re-connected properly etc.

Just done and a few miles to test and running sweet as a nut! Well happy, I achieved something! God knows how much labour a garage would have charged for this job.

Now, a nice pint of Hophead beckons! :D

lol it a right bastart geting it in and out aint it lol

iv got scollosis/curviture of the spine just been back to docs for a shit load more pain killers as i set off bad again
bent up in engine bay getting the dam thing in and out

out of curosity are you getting beter miles per gallon now

son as i put it computer shot up too 20 to the gallon around town

i recon it must ave been goigfor a while as id been getting 15 to gallon round town but no misfire too last week
and that a 25% fuel econamy gain.

may well be worth it if anyones has droped checking out the dis pack  at that rate in fuel saving it will pay for its self in a few weeks

Hope it improves my mpg (if the DIS pack is faulty) as I don't get great mpg in town and it's only the 2.5....
