2 blokes at 2.42am . took them 5 mins from pulling up to driving off .
One did the work while the other stood lookout/on guard ,swinging a 2 foot long scaffold tube or similar .
From what i can see (not jacked it up or put on ramps yet) just the main cats ,cut with a shear ( what is left of pipes oval)
looks like about £500 worth for ME to sort with aftermarket shyte  ::)
not much chance of getting genuine though  ;D
days lost waiting for parts ,My mum has dementia ,so i have to visit her a lot .

looks like enough pipe left (once trimmed back to round)  to sleeve where the cats used to be with some old exhaust section and clamps ,maybe  :-\ temporary fix till i get new aftermarket cats , i'll look tomorrow .
If not then i'll be slumming it in an astra  ::)

Thanks for the kind words of support  :)

I hope the thieving scums jack collapses sometime soon ,harsh I know, but i've no time for such selfish ****s  >:(

Guessing organised enough to know that the better 2.5/3.0 cats are worth good money, unlike the crap fitted to later Omegas that probably won't fetch a tenner.

Toyotas & Hondas are the main targets in our local area , been several warnings to owners in our area to use a garage at night if you have one but one old dear apparently had hers stolen in a supermarket car park, thieving bastards should have their hands chopped off.

Organised , took 5 mins to arrive , jack it ,cut the pipes and drive off in what i think is an Audi (still not hosted the footage but will)
the fact they used a hydraulic shear to cut the pipe and the speed shouts they do it all the time .

I was going to try and get what's left of the pipe round again ,but it's too thick and squashed oval  :(

so it looks like i'll have to buy shyte aftermarket type approved cats, with fitting kits from parts in motion is just shy of £500  :(

left £224.76

right £222.55

plus 2 fitting kits @£15 each

I could buy non type approved (£130 the pair) and graft in just the main cat to mid section ,(using my pre cats ) but then i'd also have to relocate lambdas and snot it all together  ::)
Timing really sucks

Sorry to hear about this Dave, it’s bad enough anyway but the thieving bastards don’t give a shit about peoples dependency on that vehicle.  :-\  They also don’t give a shit what they damage when jacking the vehicle up either.
I always want the jack to fall on them and crush the thieving bastards.

A chap I worked with had the cat cut off his Prius. The insurance paid out for a replacement to be fitted but just three weeks later they cut the new one off. As the insurance said that he was on his now he had to fit at his own cost so one of the lads at work suggested fitting it, and then welding toughened steel rods from the cat, and along the pipe a bit on both sides. Seems to have worked as the pipe has wounds on it from attempt number three but is still there.

sadly not much you can do to protect Omega cats when they have hydraulic shears  :(
I won't be telling the insurance or police ,waste of time ,and will just cost me even more money  :(

I would report it, regardless of what you perceive that they can do, and also regardless of any insurance claim.

As said, just bodge a bypass with some slightly bigger pipe for the time being, give you chance to see what may turn up.  May the thieves get poisoned from the dust, useless thoughtless  t wats.

it's not just about a car claim ,which increases costs
Ir also increases the crime rate ,though the scum obviously travelled ,not locals
also lowers house prices, increases home insurance etc etc

If you report it and they get caught it can be included in their prosecution, especially with evidence.

If you don't report it it cannot.

Besides, your video footage might just be the missing detail in an ongoing investigation.

But as long as your house doesn't go down in value, 'dangle berries' to everyone else.  ???

IME, CCTV footage taken at night is not admissible in court in most cases, so even if the old bill recognise the culprits, they won't proceed with it as the CPA won't run with it.

If it's any use, I've got 2 genuine Omega B downpipes complete with cats that I removed from my car 18 months ago. The flanges are rusted to bu99ery, but if you've got the tools you might be able to repair them, or somehow sleeve them into place.

sounder was not connected ,BUT ...
they don't care even if the alarm goes off with siren
the bloke with a 2 foot scaffold pole is there to discourage intervention  :-X
alarm triggers at 1 min 50 seconds ,had the sounder made a noise ,that gives me about 2 mins to wake up,dress, and get to them ,by which time ,MY cats are in the boot of their stolen Audi ? :-\
not sure what car it was as i don't take any notice of new cars anymore

Looks like a 2 series coupe to my eye. If that helps.

Definitely worth reporting to police, even just online, so they can do some digging. Intel is a big part of things now.

Sounder disconnected probably means the insurance wouldn't entertain a claim anyway.

I would definately report it to the Police. There is some considerable footage of the offenders vehicle, and even if the reg plate (whether legit or not) could be partially enhanced, a part reg can be more important than you think. There is distinctive clothing on one offender which is also an important link, and could be invaluable should offenders be stopped checked / detained in relation to other matters. Small pieces of evidence, whilst not sufficient on their own, and may seem insignificant now, as part of on going investigation can be very relevant.

Plus, as this obviously isn't a one off incident, the combination of seemingly small pieces of evidence from other similar incidents, may help paint a bigger picture to assist identifying the culprits.

Absolute parasites.

Whilst I agree CCTV at night is far less useful, it’s not automatically inadmissible - admissibility of evidence is another ball game. and as others have said, it could be the local plod are investigating a crime series of this nature, and your footage could be the missing piece. Even if faces / indexes are not identifiable, it can (and often is) be used to form circumstantial evidence, especially in a series of similar offences.

I agree - sleeve the pipes for now, and Bide your time for 2 known good, used GM cats, if possible :y

And not to mention that if their car was indeed stolen, then someone will be looking for it, so could potentially incriminate thems as suspects in that matter too.

As a longer term solution, you could fit a pair of flanges on each pipe just the right size for a pair of universal cats. Fit them for the MoT, and keep the plain inserts for the rest of the time. Obviously not legal, but a bolt in/out solution to prevent it happening again.

Did they leave the precats?  :-\

Also, probably a bit late now, but any evidence of hand prints on the car? The chap in red doesn't appear to be wearing gloves... Possible his mate is equally retarded...  :-\

Cant be too bright if they nicked the cats off a 2.6. They arent worth much anyway.
This would be a good opportunity to fit a pair of 2.5 / 3.0 cats.

They’d have got a shock if they’d nicked the cat off my son’s old truck, as it was completely hollow.  ;D

Maybe , but my emissions at MOT since i owned it have been ZERO CO and very low HCs
I doubt i'll get that with aftermarket cats .

Priced the scrap price of 3.2 cats last month and was quoted £350 for all 4,for some strange reason the pre cats have there own part number although not available separately.

Christ ! Istr they used to be almost worthless, when 2.5 / 3.0 cats were just over £100 a pair for scrap.
Wonder how much the early ones are worth now.  :-\

The thieving scumbags will have to sell what they steal to a middle man (probably dodgy scrapyard) ,who will then sell on to WARR or similar ,so they won't get much , but do 20 a night ,plus other stuff ,i bet they earn more than me  >:(

I still have the pre-cats , I'll probably buy some main cats and have them welded in , got aftermarket shyte to fit in the mean time ,at least i'll have my onega back and not have to use an Astra  :D
