Notorious for water pump failure.
If you remove the front to do work replace the water pump is the philosophy, from what I've heard.

Just had to renew Household insurance..

Tesco wanted £350 to renew up by 50% :o,, so with a bit of confusion.com, it cost £160,, and a free £20.00 Halfords voucher and a free coffee ever month.

Phoned Tesco to cancel, didn't even try to ask why, or offer a different price.

Changed Oil Cooler to daughter's Astra J. It had "Black Ring" in top of expansion tank a long time. Heard that engine A16XER is famous of this kind of problems. That car was/is also losing coolant, not much but losing, hopefully not to oil side. Let's see if that still continues. I did not like the cooler construction; six pc. of O-rings which can leak coolant out. If there is internal leak 'Oil to Coolant' it might perhaps be possible that also coolant can go to oil?

Car park dings wouldn't be a problem.  :y
Whilst it's probably better fuel economy wise than an Omega , :P I doubt I it could take the country lane corners well at 50 mph ,I'd probably end up ploughing fields   :-\ and I'm NOT a farmer , so ......"that's a NO from me and I'm out "

How easy are they to overheat and how is the cooling fan switched?

Looking at a potential temporary runabout and they seem to be a reasonable balance between affordable and available. :-X

Only looking at facelift cars because I like the idea of being able to drive to work and already have one knackered gearbox  ;D

Still looking to get this done, Nick I'm not sure if my messages are getting through? Or if anyone can recommend an Omega friendly garage in the London area?

Many thanks
