Omega General Help / DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHT !!!
« on: 20 April 2009, 22:09:14 »
hi  there , i have a problem with my omega 3.2 mv6 which occured on sunday . Last week i went down weston super mare and my omega drove brilliantly on the 200 mile round trip , however on sunday it developed a fault  :'( . I was at a standstill at the traffic lights , put my foot down , the car took off like a missile as usual but then suddenely a spanner symbol flashed on the dashboard and stayed there, and the car just suddenely lost its power, the engine became more noisy, it was lacking in throttle response , it just felt like i was coasting a very sick omega . This all happened within a couple of minutes. I switched the car off , started it again and the spanner symbol  then disappeared after a couple of seconds , the car seemed to regained some of its power back , but does feel its now lacking in outright power ! I have to really work it hard now just to hear that 3.2 engine roar ?  :-[does anyone know what the problem maybe ?? Cheers :y

Omega General Help / Re: WARMING UP PROBLEM !
« on: 30 October 2008, 19:52:11 »
hello everyone,  :) i was doing some research on what is involved in changing the thermostat on a 3.2 V6 and a lot of people who have done the job have said it is not a job for any old mechanic or the faint hearted plus  the thermostat is  not easy to find :o. It is a job for a specialist if the job is to be done properly! I do not think the supplying dealer  or even myself ,would be able to do the job properly, so is there anyone that you know who would be able to diagnose as to wether the thermostat has packed up and if it is has put in a new one PROPERLY and PROFESSIONALLY ?  I am based in birmingham so anywhere not to far from here would be great however i am prepared to travel out if i have to! What about the omegamechanic who i think is called JAMES V6 CDX! I do not want my omega to be worked on by franchised vauxhall dealers as there is a lot of bad reviews on their workmanship !

hi lizzie, i actually cannot remember what the car was doing mpg as my eyes were fixed on the temperature gauge however thanks to everyone for your replies it is greatly appreciated. It does seem then that the thermostat is faulty ,  so  i will be getting it looked at  by the supplying dealer as it is still under warranty and i will let you know what the verdict is! cheers  :y :y :y

Omega General Help / Re: WARMING UP PROBLEM !

Hi weds , i did get decent heating but what worries me is that when i came to a standstill the temperature rose to just about 80 it is normally 90 and then when i hit the dual carraigeway or motorway it would decrease, not by much though. I been on google and there are suggestions that if the engine is running to cool it could be down to a faulty thermostat . The thermostat is stuck open therefore when on the motorway or dual carraigeway the cold air rushing through is cooling the engine / coolant !

Omega General Help / WARMING UP PROBLEM !
« on: 28 October 2008, 23:23:00 »
hello everyone , for the last couple of months i was really enjoying the ownership experience of my recently purchased omega 3.2 mv6 . However since the weather has gone really cold my omega is taking so long to warm up . On tuesday night it was about 3 degrees,  and i went to Worcester down the M5 about a 20 mile trip and the temperature gauge hardly moved from the bottom for the first 12 miles and then just very, very slowly creeped to the halfway point between 0 and 80 degrees . I was doing a steady 60 mph. As soon as i came of the junction it was worringly moving to the bottom of temperature gauge  again and then slowly up again but never reached the the 80 degrees until i was in the town . overall a 45 minute trip to reach a decent operating temperature ! It felt as though i had to work the car hard to get it to warm up !  >:( Is this down to the fact that the omega 3.2 is a lazy engine and takes ages to warm up or a faulty thermostat!  A couple of months ago , my mate slightly loosened the coolant cap on the omega saying this put less pressure on the cooling system ,  could it be down to that !  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated ! :y  By the way, the cars heating seemed to work fine !

Omega General Help / omega specialist required!!!
« on: 30 October 2008, 21:07:35 »
Good evening everyone ,  i recently posted a topic about the fact that my omega 3.2 was warming up to slowly and took ages to reach a decent operating temperature. After some replies it seems that the thermostat is faulty , so i was  wondering if anyone can recommend a garage or anyone who really knows their way around the omega, . There seems to be so many specialists out there , i do not know which one to choose! I live in birmingham but i am prepared to travel  further out , as only the best will do for my omega!!! cheers :y :y :y

Omega General Help / CLIMATE CONTROL = POWER LOSS
« on: 30 August 2008, 22:49:01 »
Hi everyone ,  i was just wondering how much power does the use of the climate control in an omega 3.2 use up . The reason why i ask is because when i was at a standstill i pressed the economy button on the heating fascia and the engine seemed to really just quieten down as if it were just ticking over , but when turned to auto mode it felt the engine was just working that bit more  plus the extra engine noise!!

General Car Chat / any mv6 3.2 autos out there ?
« on: 21 July 2011, 18:04:32 »
hi there ,just wondering , i have a omega 3.2 mv6 . Are there any more out there as mostly all i hardly see is the 3.2 elites or the 3.0 mv6 . Mine is an 2002 model , auto with leathers , and has a brilliant service history , the first owner was the vauxhall dealership .  It has covered only 62000 miles , and i only done 5000 of that in the last 3 years . She is well looked after  : ;) it is my pride and joy  :-*
