Post by: tunnie on 13 August 2016, 14:37:08
Would play in rear prop shaft bearing cause a knocking, from rear over speed bumps?

Get a metallic knocking sound on rough roads and speed bumps from the rear, can't find any play in anything but prop shaft bearing

The prop shaft centre bearing rubber mounting can tear or go soft, then it will bonk occasionally. Get under the car, heave prop shaft near the bearing up and down and side to side, if it bonks, that's your problem. Quite fun to replace.
