Same with the Comparison sites.

I know its all been talked about before and I thought I had an account setup . . . . seems thats not the case unless I just forgot which one  (If I was set up it was the same one that TB uses)

TopCashBack are currently offering £44 cashback if you sign up to a new duel fuel energy plan via their own comparison service.  :y

Not much in grand scheme of things when you have to take out a second mortgage to keep warm in the winter, but it's better than a kick up the arris!  ::)

If you want money off every month for your bills, look at something like Santander's 123 account or similar.  This takes between 1 and 3% off many utility bills each month, but has a fee, and other commitments have to be made.

Cashback sites only give a one-off cash back.

Nothing to stop you using both, obviously.

I have the 123 account, but they have tightend up the cash back from £15 to £5 per moth on each item.

Plus they swapped them round, I make a slight profit after the account charge.

I singed up with Quidco today, but as just mentioned I think I so have Topcashback as well,  Just not signed in with it as I had forgotten all about ifter reinstalling windows.

Could have earnt myself a small fortune in the last 6 weeks if my brain was functioning properly.

Energy is probably my biggest, close run thing with the council tax.  Neither hit any limits for me.  But even if they did, better than a poke in the eye with a red hot poker.

There may be other accounts that are more generous on certain parts, but not bothered looking, as the 123 isn't a bad all-rounder for me.

I keep my electricity account in debit and it's effectively a free overdraft facility!  :y

Although it's not really free I suppose as I pay a little more for my gas & leccy because I don't pay via direct debit.  The reason that I don't pay by direct debit is because I've had problems with them taking silly amounts out of my account and then struggling get them to refund my money!  >:(

Woke up today to Mother shouting at the Customer Cervix department at Shell demanding to know why our smart meter totals were half the bill amounts.

The bill is quite sneaky as it only gives you a £ amount and not the meter guesstimate that it's based on.. >:(

When pressed, they gave the meter readings as of midnight and they were 4 cubic metres of gas and 11kwh of electric behind the actual readings... Not sure if that's unreasonable or not, but I note that the gas meter has gone up another 4 since 10 am and the only thing that's happened in that time is a shower and some hot water... :-\

May as well turn the smart meter off.

The words 'smart' and 'meter' shouldn't really be used in the same sentence.   ;)

I've managed to avoid having smart meters so far, despite it being a condition of the contract I had with Eon a while back. Unfortunately, every time they wanted to come and fit the damn things I'd just tested positive for Covid.  :-X

When I'm forced to get them I'll wrap them up with tin foil to keep them nice and cosy, as my meters are in the garage and I've heard that they don't like cold temperatures.  ;D
