...and more problems - Drivers lock & alarm
« on: 04 June 2008, 21:21:25 »

Two more problems if I could get advice:

Firstly is that the drivers lock will not budge (will not move left or right at all) if I try to open it manually, almost like I'm using the wrong Key but the fob opens the doors ok.

Also the alarm keeps randomly going off, I've noticed this seems to be in hot weather, especially when its parked in sunlight.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated  :y

LOCK :

Stick some "plusgas" into the lock, hopefully it will eventually loosen ... locks get stiff through lack of use .. I use mine a couple of times every month and give a squirt of light oil ( 3-in-1) every time its washed .. seems to keep things free.

ALARM :

Check the bonnet switch for security and "verticalness" ( :) ) As the sun heats the bonnet the expansion can cause this to just make and sound the alarm , it then cools as a cloud passes, reheats and gets set off again. An easy check is to disconnect the switch and see if it stops happening !!

If yours is mini facelift then bonnet switch is on right hand side as you face car.

To check it out - disconnect plug from bottom of switch - then you will need to short out plug contacts (use bridging wire otherwise alarm will think bonnet is open!).
