Hi
I'm plannig to put a I6 BMW engine in a 2.5 B Omega, has any body tried that?

Which engine?
Any of them will be a lot of work, and unless you're using one of the bigger capacity recent I6s, won't give any more usable power than a stock 3.0l V6.

The only BMW engine swap that makes sense is to swap the 2.5td with the 3.0/3.5 td from a late E39.
Otherwise, just buy a V8 E39 ;)

I fitted a performance chip to my 2.5td, I can’t remember the figures, but the performance increase was impressive, for only an hours work and ~ £70. :y

The good news is that Opel demonstrated that a BMW I6 will fit. The bad news is that halhorn73 will need to recreate all sorts of parts that he would already have if he was starting with a 2.5td

Its a car for folkrace, and I have a I6 bmw engine spare with ecu and transmission. Original an 2.5V6 but the crank shaft bearings went to piceses during race and the whole engine is full of small piecese of metall. The BMW engine is about the same power, but much easier to get spare parts to in Norway.

Hence why I said the only BMW engine swap that would make sense was the 2.5 DIESEL for the bigger BMW lump.
The easiest option would be to throw in any GM 2.5/2.6/3.0/3.2 v6.
All the 2.5 V6 wiring, ecu and sensors will bolt straight on and it will run perfectly fine, and anything other than another 2.5 will give more power.
Trying to retrofit the petrol BMW running gear to replace the petrol v6 is really over complicating the issue.
Also, at least you now know that the 2.5 isn't really upto the job... If you can get one, the 3.2 v6 has a forged crank.
