The woman who was grumbling about this onto wireless earlier countered her own argument.  ;D

She started well, by stating that he had previous form for this type of thing and had already been spoken to on previous occasions. She went on to suggest that there should be a three strikes and out system to defend against this behaviour.

She then shot herself in the head by asking, however, why he couldn't hold a personal opinion regardless of whatever the corporation line may be.  ;D

Re illegals , some of them must cross a few borders before arriving in the UK. So why the UK why not stay in France . or any of the countries theyv,e crossed through. anybody with half a brain would be able to answer.

They have identity cards in France and other countries they pass through. They cant just disappear into the crowd and work in the black market anywhere near as easily as they can in the UK.
Just one reason of many.

Apparently Macron is going to demand an annual fee from the UK to patrol the beaches in Northern France to deter the boats.  ::)

So France is expecting British taxpayers to fund law enforcement in their country.  >:(

Trouble is that we're stupid enough to cough up!  :-X

Yep, on an ad hoc basis whenever the Froggies can squeeze some cash from the Home Secretary of the day.  ::)

It seems Macron wants to formalise the arrangement with an annual fee.  >:(

Unless we want to outlaw the terminally stupid from speaking publicly, then I suppose he has the right to say what he wants.
I loathe him because he is a fashionably left wing, champagne socialist and a hypocrite like all of his ilk are.
The fact that the BBC pay him £1.3 million a year, of our money to talk about football, is a national disgrace though.

Just been listening to Matt LeTissier talking about Lineker on GB News.
He was careful to stay on the right side of the law, re being sued, but he said he knows for a fact that Lineker is nothing like the nice caring saintly like person he makes himself out to be. He has a lot of skeletons in his closet, and must have friends in high places who have helped him keep them there.
Oh how I would love to see the details of that exposed in the media.  :)

Sport, in general, and football, in particular, is completely out of hand, Mick. The money, the egos, everything about it is way off the scale.
I cancelled Sky Sports two weeks ago, after I read a news report that Jack Grealish, a Manchester City player, had signed a contract to wear Puma football boots for the next twelve months. The payment for this? Ten million pounds  :o My missus will have spent about 45 years in education before she retires, making a difference for thousands of children. She will earn nothing like that over her entire working life.
Losing my £400 odd pounds a year won't make any difference, but it makes me feel better.

I'm not sure of the terms of the contract, but I doubt they'd be able to wriggle out of it if he got injured and showed his boots from the bench for a year.

Neymar Junior, who plays for PSG, is being paid £23 million from the same company for wearing the boots.

His boots have the companies name and logo's on the soles. This is because he spends most of his game diving and rolling around on the floor.

It's got everything to do with it. Sky sports pays the premiership millions (billions?) to show football on telly. That money, along with gate receipts, merchandising and sponsorship pays the wages of everyone from managers to groundskeepers. The level of wages is directly related to the level of sponsorship deals, Puma wouldn't offer £10 million to a player who was on 5 grand a week. They know the figure has to be enough to outbid everyone else, and enough for a player on a multi million pound wages contract to accept it.

That was only the straw that broke the camels back, I've been pissed off with the way the game is run for a while now. From the criminal behaviour of Sepp Blatter and his ilk, right down to the sulky behaviour of so called stars who can't get their own way.

I take your point that football is completely corrupt from FIFA down and that Sky Sports are part of that with the huge amounts that they and other broadcasters spray around to secure the rights, but it's a tenuous link between them and Puma/Jack Grealish.  :-\

If you'd have said Right that's it I'm never buying a pair of Puma boots again! .....  ;D

I guess though, if you're paying a subscription to Sky Sports/BT Sport/Virgin Media etc you are part of the problem, so well done!  :y

I agree totally.

I'm sure a lot of you don't like cricket, but I was brought up loving the game (my dad was a keen cricketer). However, the moment Sky took over the Test rights and the BBC no longer showed it, my interest drained. I used to even follow the county game with some great matches on the BBC on Sunday afternoons. When I was a lad, we played on the greens with a chalked wicket on a wall. Now, few kids are interested. Money killed it, IMHO. :'(

One or two steps back up the road that we have come miles along. They need to tap into the wishes of the silent majority and ignore the liberal left, who are very much a minority outside the M25.
The only one in my lifetime with big enough balls to do that was Thatcher.

Yes there was a BBC journo Matthew Sweet (or Sweeting) who made loads of complaints to Ofcom about Steyn's reports about vaccine injuries and deaths.

It seems that Ofcom agreed with one of the complaints and GB News tried to get Steyn to sign a new contract where he was obliged to pay any Ofcom fines. He told GB News in no uncertain terms to Eff off and publically called the CEO of GB News Angelos Frangopoulos a lier.

It's GB New's loss I think, but Steyn is still out there online and on youtube.

He also wouldn't go along with the lefty mantra a that a bepenised woman was a woman like any other.....that probably sealed his fate. :-\

If Gary Lineker had said that women don't have penis's the Twitterati would have broadly vilified him and the BBC would have sacked him on the spot!  ;D

I thought that Lineker didn't look quite so smug in footage of him outside his house with all the journos doorstepping him today.

As far as I'm concerned I don't really care if Gary Lineker tells us that he thinks that the Government are a bunch of Nazis, it's his opinion.  It should just be an internal dispute over whether he has broken the terms of his contract with the BBC.

What I do find amusing about this storm in a teacup, is that the very people who are standing up for him and telling us about free speech etc are the same people who usually try and get people shut down/sacked/cancelled/deplatformed when someone voices an opinion that they disagree with.

The flip side of the coin is that the people who usually rail against 'cancel culture' and tell us our rights to free speech are inviolate are the people calling for Gary Lineker to be sacked!

It's a funny old world....

He should be sacked because he has ignored the BBC rules for years, because he thinks he is above the rules.
Turns out he is right by the look of it. The tail has wagged the dog, and the Beeb has lost the last little shred of credibility it had left.
They could have used this as an opportunity to get rid of a lot of overpaid dross (him and all those who refused to go on air in support of him), and brought in a lot of new blood who werent paid millions for mediocrity.

They are not that stupid, it would no doubt end in court on an unfair dissmissal claim, which as is the norm, the BBC would most probably lose having funded a swarm of legal teams retirement plans to the tune of millions.......or they would have to settle on the steps for a 7 figure sum.

This has obviously been a very important topic to go on for days in the papers & the TV, for god's sake can't this country get a grip on what really is news worthy.

If Gary Lineker had said that we need to stop the boats and the vast majority of those coming across are economic migrants then the BBC would have sacked him on the spot. :)

Some free speech is more acceptable than other free speech at the BBC.

It'll all have been forgotten by the weekend and they'll have found something else to get outraged about!  ;D

As someone that loathes the BBC and has no interest whatsoever in football, I have only ever heard of MOTD and had no idea what it was about. As there is zero chance of me ever, ever ever watching a BBC channel I had to Google what MOTD is, and apparently it’s about watching highlights of a game that has already been played and can’t be changed, and then talking about it. A bit like watching Columbo, where you know what’s happened before you start watching it.  ::)
I’ll wager that Columbo is more interesting.  ;D

Well, no because technically he is freelance and not employed by the BBC as such. This is to save him paying a lot of tax on the £1.35 million p.a. of our money they pay him.
Ordinarily I dont mind people trying to keep hold of money instead of giving it to HMRC, but he wants unlimited amounts of taxpayers money thrown at any left wing cause you can think of, while trying to pay as little tax as possible.
Hateful smug hypocritical little shit.

Being the smug narcissist that he is, Whine simply set up two callers to have a 'debate' about and then took a selection of calls to try to support Mr Crisp. 2/3 were against him.

The highlight was when one caller suggested that he should have been sacked because no media type is indispensible.

Whine almost chocked on that.  ;D
