I met Nige for a pint (In Swindon I believe). Feels like yesterday but was probably 15 years ago. Lovely, genuine and decent bloke, I really hope he is OK, even if his pride and joy has now been ragged!

Sounds like you have a 'make good' lease :-\

No, I just don’t want the place looking like steptoes yard!

It’s just an area I have almost zero knowledge of, so thought I’d gather some opinions :y

I didn’t expect any serious responses  ;D

I doubt it will clean out. I’ll try but I doubt it.

How big a deal - or costly is it, to have it concreted over or similar to rectify it? Cheers :y
You mean once you've dug it out and relaid it?

A screed will never stick to it. Nor will any other coating.

Detergent, steam and time will mitigate it, but the only way to actually remove it is with a chisel.

If that’s what it takes then fine … just after an idea about what’s involved and what it’s likely to cost. It’s not my bag and I am totally fine with that. I will need a man who can :y

General Car Chat / Heavy Oil Stain

I’ll keep this brief because it is what it is … I have made a balls up and kicked over a bucket of used engine oil from my 3.2 project, all over my concrete driveway. Up to three litres spilled. Covered in compost (all I had nearby) to stop the spread, I later removed this and went and got some cat litter which soaked it all up, but (obviously) has left a big (big!) black stain. Let’s say half a meter square - significant.

Someone on OOF must have been in this position before  ::) Any tips on removing the stain, please? It’s grey concrete, not tarmac.

Cheers 👍🏻

Could leave it for a month, no problems  :y

When are you going away? I'm sure we could make a plan  :y

I’m no longer at the old place you came to. I now have off road parking for almost unlimited cars, which is dangerous for my car addiction (I have three Omegas at the moment!). So it wouldn’t be in the way :y

I probably should arrange a cambelt party!

You’re welcome to leave her here for that month, and come back to a fresh MOT as well as a valve job. I’d probably start a progress / photo thread  👍🏻👍🏻

Sell the fiesta. Get an LPG kit for the omega with the money and use it as your daily

Assuming you have LPG nearby. I think you do, near you :y

If you want them done, I will do them for a very fair price. To include a full head refurb. I’m afraid I can’t do a job of that magnitude for totally free, but it would still be a fraction of garage labour…. It would also be prime time to do cambelt and water pump - it would be removed regardless, so no extra labour ….

The only caveat is that I can’t work at the speed I used to - I’d need the car at my place for a short while :y

I think you are right TB....I have seen the seals for just a few quid. We will see how it goes, then it might be a call to Serek.  :y

Just in the process of doing mine, along with other jobs. Not a bad job to do at all :y
I assume cams out, but can it be done without removing head?

I personally have the heads removed, because the car had a cambelt let go, and all 12 inlet valves are as bent as a 9 bob note  ;D

I would do it head-off, personally. It gives the opportunity to inspect the valve seats, re-lap the valves, etc. I appreciate it's more work, but, I really wouldn't fancy dropping one of those little retaining collets down into an oilway or similar  :y

Yep, it would need a transfer pump

What has become of our country? Mob-handed police arresting a 16-year old autistic girl because of "homophobic" comment in her own house?

I despair.

If the (so say) "homophobic comment" was said when the girl and the officer were in a private house, then there is NO offence under the public order act at all.

"Sections 4, 4A and 5 may take place in a public or private place. No offence under these sections is committed, however, if such conduct takes place inside a dwelling and the person to whom it is directed, is inside that or another dwelling"

It sounds very much like a young officer saw red and made an awful judgement.

It's annoying because it gives sensible / experienced cops a bad name.
