help i have a 3.0l mv6 99 model . my abs and tc lights staying on also i lose the speedo and the steering gets heavy have tried reading the fault codes but there are non present any idea which sensor feeds the speedo? :'(

Hi, I have the exact same problem with my 2000 3.0 Mv6 >:(, local garage and vxl dealer could not get any code reading, vxl wanted £700+ for supply and fit new abs ecu, tried a new rear abs sensor but no luck, getting a front to try but I think the abs ecu is faulty, found local garage that will take it off for £40 (good I thought) as VXL wanted £300 labour!!!, then sending ecu for repair quote, will post result when done!!

Cheers, Mark :y

Omega General Help / grooving standard discs????
« on: 24 September 2009, 12:00:03 »
Would like to know if standard vented discs could have
grooves machined into them as grooved discs are expensive,
obviously I mean done by a engineering company (not with an angle grinder, :D)
Would it weaken them?

Omega General Help / Re: abs / tc light

Whereabouts are the ABS and TC sensors? Mine come on randomly when driving (usually after a speed hump/pot hole/heavy braking) and then go out again when the ignition is cut. Speedo and rev-counter works fine so I’m presuming that the sensors are loose/corroded/dirty.

on my 2000 3.0mv6 the rears are in centre of the rear axle, easy to get to!!, fronts are in the hub (take wheel off), be careful getting them out if stuck like mine, they are only plastic and I cracked one (front) getting it out, £50-60 to replace new.

try taking sensors out and cleaning them, I did that with mine (although it turned out to be ecu) they were caked in grease and dirt.
When my ecu packed up it had no speedo.
Might be worth checking the connections onto the ecu in case he knocked them with that crow bar >:(

While driving home today the traction control and abs warning lights both came on at same time. Cruise wouldnt work and speedo packed in. Now, sometimes it comes on with ignition, sometimes it comes on along the way and sometimes it stays off all together. Any ideas peeps?  :-?

Had this exact problem, was indeed the ABS ecu, had repaired by BBA reman £138, local garage charged £92 (2hrs labour) for removing and then refitting.

 >:(VXL dealer wanted £750 to supply and fit new!!!!

Have you checked interior lights, many a time my kids have left a rear light on and unless you watch the lights fade out when u lock it u may miss them, especially during the day, go out and check it when its dark (sorry to be so obvious, but u never know!!! :D)

Im having problems with my mv6 the ABS TC light comes on and i lose the speedo and the steering stiffens a little this intermits coz i can drive a bit further and it all corrects it self the only problem is it seems to be geting worse as i was able to drive the best part of 40 miles yesterday with no problem but when i had to drive home i had the problem twice any ideas if this is the abs sensor or the actual ecu where are the abs sensors located ? thanks guys for any help i got to prey its not the abs ecu as i dont have the sort of money its going to cost to repair it as ive herd its not cheap

Hi, just had this exact fault with my MV6, as Varche said sounds as though ABS ecu has gone, had mine repaired by BBA reman last week (£140, inc postage), a local garage removed it and refitted it after repair for £92 Inc (2hrs labour) everything is all ok now......good times ;D

Good luck!!! :y

I chipped mine. It does about 32 round town an. if I do 80 on motorway i get about 35-38.
If i stay at 70 I get nearer 40 + but can`t seem to do that because it takes forever to get anywhere.
Pretty well the same figures here too!
Autos are a bit thirstier, especially when un-chipped.
Well worth chipping, (70 quid-ish). Fitting the AR35 auto-box is essential, as you'll rapidly send your AR25 into 'melt-down'!
Take a look in the 'bits for sale' section on here. 'PM' to TheBoy for chip supplier.

HI, WILL MY 3.0MV6 AUTO (2000 FACELIFT) HAVE A AR25 OR 35? AS i WAS CONSIDERING A RE MAP, THANKS :y

You will have an AR35  :y
Off the shelf chips may help, yours is just a socketed chip to change.

cheers for that :y, so does socketed mean I can change myself and what chip do you recommend?thanks :)
