Thanks Mark, I've got a Haynes, which I was going to use for torque figures at least.

Dave, thanks for the pics, useful to see where the flywheel locker goes. I've got the locking kit coming, hopefully today. I remember from reading a thread on a veccy 1.8VVT (chap has now passed away, his name escapes me  :-[ ) that the timing marks don't line up on the vvt cam sprockets. I don't normally bother with the kits, but decided I would in this case.

Thanks Uncle Stemo for resizing and re posting the pics  :)
In the time it would take me to figure that out I could replace the belt  :D

So, first sweary moment of the weekend, managed to get down to the point of splitting the engine and gearbox. Went to pull the spring clip out that secures the clutch pipe to the fitting that takes it through the side of the gearbox and the fu£kibg spring clip disintegrated  >:(.

So I now can't get it built back up until I get a new clip, except I don't know what they're called or the correct part number. Or, can I lock wire the pipe fitting in place as a temporary measure until I can get a clip (not going to happen on a bank holiday weekend!).

Answers on a postcard...

You mean a 'spring clip'  :D

If it's anything like the Omega or VW ones, locking wire won't work.

At a push a suitably sized safety pin might work, but I wouldn't drive on it.  :-\

Well, that is what I thought I meant, but then again, googling it didn't seem to yield any Vauxhall related results  :-\

Basically it's one of these, but probably smaller and hopefully not £5 a piece.

You could probably use one of those to hold the gear change cables on :D

Size wise, a safety pin is probably your best temporary bet, although you will lose alot of fluid if it fails. In a 'if the clutch pressure goes, get the car towed home' kind of failure  ;)

Yeah, tbh I am not planning on driving it without the clip. I really want something temporary so I can bleed the clutch and get the thing off stands. I can fettle the new clip in with basically nothing else needing to be removed as and when I get it.

You mean a 'spring clip'  :D

So, it turns out I actually don't  :P

What I mean is 'Spring clip' and after some googling/farting around, I think the part number is 90512780 6 79 624.
