If it works, happy days ;)

The thing you want to consider is any difference, however apparently subtle could be the difference between getting out or not in an accident.

It will be good to confirm because the failure rate of the Omega ones is only getting worse  :y

lock mechanism changed today. the old one had failed as predicted by another member (the release 'cog' had virtually fallen off its shaft after wearing its oval centre away.)
the saab  one is fitted and looks identical in every way. works perfect.

the one i put on had its cog very securely inplace .my guess is that seeing as they are only an oval section of shaft with an oval hole in the cog and burred over, this method of attachment is prone to work loose eventually.
in summer i will check the other locks and add a blob of weld if any signs of looseness.possibly worth doing anyway even if not loose yet !.
i have repaired my old one with a weld and it also needed a small tube inserting over the shaft too as the hole had worn a bit too where the shaft goes through.possibly never need it but its done just incase.

Now some parts are hard or impossible to get I guess such "repairs" are the way forward , well done  :)
