Interesting.

https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/motorsport/day-jack-sears-hit-185mph-m1-motorway

Not in the same speed league, but very early 70s I had an old Austin Westminster. 3 Litre, straight 6. Tank of a thing (think B&W TV detective programmes).
First time I drove over 100mph M1. No reason for the journey, just a "drive". 110MPH. I remember it well. A bit terrifying.

First for me was on the drag strip with my Dodge Challenger, 106 at the 1/4. My proper drag Austin did 120.
Got stopped by a Triumph 2000 old bill car for "speeding" but got away with it as there VASCAR was faulty!!

I'd imagine the suspension was designed for comfort rather than speed!  ;D

My eldest got stopped in my 2.8 Mk2 Granada when he was in his teens. Copper said to him, " what's a young bloke like you doing driving a car like that".
All was above board so he told him to bugger off.  ;D

Had a MK2 Zephyr and after that a couple of 3.0 Granadas then a 2.8 Granada Ghia liked all of them, then moved on to 4x4s for towing the caravan.

Many many moons ago, early 80's, I saw a MKIII Zephyr/Zodiac in Southampton with a 'for sale' sign in the window for £150 ..... I always wish I bought it  :-\
