Drove it to meet its potential replacement. Not too bad a deal... Trading it in works out about a quid a kilo...

And about the same for the replacement... Financially about £1,200 for a £2,000 car ignoring the cost of tinkering/servicing during ownership (ideally you have to maintain whatever you buy and oil/filters/discs/pads etc are much of a muchness...).

 ;D

Mothers decreasing mobility means that she struggles getting in and out of the Barge so need to expedite getting something slightly higher. On a limited budget.

The Trolley (A160L) cost me £400. The Barge cost me £460 plus the Trolley. Or £860.

The Replacement would be the Barge plus £300, aka £1,160, as opposed to the asking price. Simples really.  :D

My Mum (78) gets in the omega easy enough, I just have to hand her the seatbelt
then put the passenger seat control to  "melt" and the AC heat that side to "inferno"
they I just turn a def un to the screams as she tries to press a brake pedal that isn't there  :P

Get an Agila with a bigger engine.
Overpowered cars aren't as much fun as caning the arse of a slow one at legal speeds, and not slowing down for anything. The only snag with that is it looks like you're trying to push a Porsche through bends with an Agila. Or a 1500 automatic Avenger :y

........

When my parents were able to shuffle along, getting them in to my car was always a problem. We can't visualise why they can't bend their back and duck their head to get in to the seat, although I'm getting that way a bit myself.  ;D  Then we have to swing their legs in, which can also be a problem.
That problem was eased massively when my Mrs wanted the BMW F33 convertible that we had for a while. I simply opened the roof, flicked the front seats forward (they move forward and return on their own electrically so no effort involved) and my parents walked upright into the car. All they had to do then was turn and sit down and I'd then close the roof. They found it so easy like this, although not so good for me if it was raining. Getting out was quite simple as well as they always had something to hold on to. I did get some funny looks opening the roof when it was raining but I think people understand when they saw the oldies getting in or out.

This is not a suggestion by the way Al as the budget doesn't suit, it's merely our findings of another use for a convertible.  ;D

My Mum has mobility problems .... she needs her walker or an arm to hold to walk the length of herself. She struggled to lift her leg high enough to get into my ML  :( but she manages OK to get into their Chrysler Voyager  :-\

We've become so accustomed to car doors that hinge at the front that we think they're 'correct', and ridicule the cars that have sliding or rear-hinged doors. Yet people with mobility problems love them because they work better - there's only a narrow space for putting your feet into a car, and a front-hinged door takes up a lot of it. Note how the bigger Rolls Royce has a rear hinged back door for the owner to get and out easily.

Much the same applies to modern low, sloping rooflines; you have to bend your body in another way at the same time as bending your waist, knees and ankles and lots of people can't do it. Just look at the number of elderly people who drive Fiesta/Focus Fusions,  Honda Jazzes, Jukes, Sanderos etc, and it's why the smaller crossovers are so popular.

Which is why my thoughts have gone in the direction they have. And based on what I saw yesterday, whilst the pig needs a bit more than lipstick, it meets the entry requirements  :y
