Title: Omega Tyre Test
Post by: 05omegav6 on 04 January 2013, 17:51:19
In order to organise the tyre debate somewhat, (and to cheer Cem up),

I have a set of 17"s, and will soon have18"s (and also potentially a set of 16"s timing dependant) fitted with the Runway Enduros that I keep banging on about...

I am prepared for them to be used in a controlled environment either as standalone on my car, or perhaps better yet, fitted to other members cars.

This should enable individual cars behaviour on different tyres be assessed by individual drivers.

This might help to provide members with a definitve list of tyres available at a given budget that are suited to the Omega.

If any interest in doing this, then perhaps a suitable venue could be arranged, (I have somewhere locally that might be suitable, if a bit South), or a well defined road route perhaps.

Interesting thought Al, we could put some issues to bed once and for all.

I've always said, OOF has a perfect opportunity to sort out some tyres that work in a single model.

Just needs a venue. :)

It's a shame we can't use the same venue as the York meet. Or something similar?

Interesting thought Al, there is somewhere I know where we could use, I'll ask and report back. It is long enough for a 3.2 manual saloon to reach just over 150mph  ;D

I know someone who rents part of Ford airfield for HGV training. Not really large enough for anything more than a modest handling course/stopping distances. Probably 6 acres or so :-\
