The 234bhp is basically crap, i've had mine RR twice, it got 228 the first time and 244 the second, but i know the 228 is more likely

It's rare to find a rolling road that can be believed too. Unless they did a proper coastdown to establish the losses I'd take any figures with a pinch of salt. What would be worth doing, however, is a run before fitting chip and a run after, on the same day. This will tell you what the difference is.

Unless it is actually a chip (a 28 pin EPROM if memory serves) that fits inside the ECU I woulnd't touch it with a barge pole.

I quite agree that traffic enforcement seems to focus solely on speed these days, and poor driving undetectable by GATSO is thus getting out of control.

However, I was heartened yesterday to see a driver get pulled over by a traffic cop for a good talking to after she made a complete Horlicks of negotiating a roundabout whilst smoking, checking make up in mirror, etc.

Nothing like enough of that goes on, and that's the real issue.

Yes, scameras are a cheap way of generating revenue and a cheap way of generating statistics to show how well you're policing traffic but it's the fact that they have been used to offset proper traffic policing rather than compliment it that really annoys me.

perhaps we should limit his flight to 99 mph

Yeah, that'll be below the stalling speed of his jet by quite a margin so hopefully he'll crash and burn!

 ;)

Only posted in comedy value. Just an indicator that people who understand their field are the ones best placed to make decisions, not politicians, who don't really have a field, other than making headlines.

And I agree, EU are a bunch of "politicians" who failed at a national level, and for good reason.

He clearly has a fantastic grasp of the physics of car design!  :o

does it have some sort of valve system at the crankcase end?

Yes. There's a solenoid valve between the canister and this pipe which is normally shut. This pipe only carries fuel vapours so it is unlikely to need cleaning.

Do you know what the problem is?

Didn't TD say it was likely a dropped valve? If there are bits rattling around in it, it will kill it. Then again, if it's dropped a valve it's probably dead already. Could just be a burnt out valve, I guess, which wouldn't do significant further engine harm. Not sure about the cat though. Could pull the injector feed on that cylinder? Or is it a single point system?

All the best. Mate of mine joined up and is now a firearms cop and rapid reponse driver. He's never looked back. Must re-acquaint him with the Omega sometime. He was wittering on about some BMW piece of kit last time I spoke to him  ::)

Like him, you'll probably apply to Hampshire constabulary and get your first "posting" to Newport, thinking "silly sods, that's in Wales".

Newport, Isle of Wight  ;D

MarksDTM shouldn't you have a rising sun or similar over you OVER emblem now!

Naah. I reckon a bloke on a ladder trying to repair it with self tappers would be more appropriate!  ;D

I must admit, a LR is probably not that bad a bet, if you can cope with the thirst. Street cred without being too desirable, fast, expensive or delicate.

Also doing one up seems like a way of getting interest

One reason I think your idea is a good one, is that it will teach them to respect the car and learn the value of it. They will be less inclined to thrash / trash it, which many young drivers who are given cars on a plate  are inclined to do.

Hmm. I wonder what fuel prices will be like then? And insurance for new drivers  :-/

If it has a serious misfire, driving it wil knacker the cat if it's not already and maybe risk more damage to the engine.

To tow, it needs to be road legal if all 4 wheels are on the ground. Tax, insurance, MOT.

Do you have breaikdown recovery? Could you go and collect it, drive away and "break down" a couple of miles up the road?

Getting it picked up sounds like a winner if there's plenty of cash in the project anyway. Less hassle and risk that way.

What a shame >:(

If you want a tent and are passing near Alton on the way (unlikely) you're more than welcome.

Sleeping in a car is not ideal. Even a nice Omega Estate.
