Wickes rarely have enough stuff in stock to complete a job anyway, IMHO, so I'd be more than happy to steer a wide berth. ;D

For me, anything that came after the F40 , is a tarts handbag of a car produced for footballers with too much money but no sense of style or class.

Ferraris(and similar) were only ever meant for one of two things:

Racing

or

Flashy toys for the fashionable. And like lots of fashion goods, they're not very durable or well made.

This seems to be an Italian thing.

The Italians do passion while the Germans prefer pragmatism. :)

.. and making it as complex as possible. ::)

.. and Radio 4 spent my commute this evening discussing whether she should still be "taking the whip" or should resign from the SNP.

That was a mental image I could have done without, TBH. ;D

They are a great drivers car, no looker (but then BMW have really lost their way on this in the last 10+years) and I bloody hate the way car manufacturers are stacking displays like monitors on a work bench in the interior (But I guess even we will go that way potentially at some point).

Hopefully a good realiable fun car !

The straight six BMW was always the best they did  :y

Probably followed Tesla as some of thier cars and ideas became best sellers in the market.

I suspect it's just cheaper than having real dials and lights on the dash...

Her XE, the land assist seems to be sticky, in the it stays off between starts.  Actually, I think the shitbox Vauxhall 208 Enterprise keep giving me has a sticky lane assist toggle...

Yep, mine stays off too, although it only does the vibrate thing. That's annoying enough, and what's the use of a safety feature that relies on road markings being adequately maintained in this country?  ;D.

It would take a bullet to the head to buy a recent/current VAG product.

It would take two to buy one with a DSG box.

.. in a nutshell. ^  ;D

I'm going off the idea, glad I asked. Question is, why are more modern boxes not as good as torque converter ones  :-\

I hope the current VW DSG boxes are better than the first ones. You know, the ones that had a nasty habit of selecting two gears at once, which cost about £3k to fix. Their biggest selling point seems to be how fast they can change gear, which is utterly irrelevant in real use.

.. and I'd wager the ZF8 in my Jag is just as quick at shifting and it's certainly more refined. I'd only ever go for a conventional slushbox. Dual clutch types are trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist.

Those puppies look ideal for 'motorboating' >:D

Potential flotation devices if the "boating" doesn't go well, too. ;D

UPS, who on a phone call about an hour ago still said my parcel would be delivered by noon today....

Currently waiting for a parcel from Useless Parcel Shysters myself. They did manage to get it as far as Southampton before declaring that my address doesn't exist and returning it to the sender. ::)

due to 'the mechanical and logistical complexity' of the conversion.

Maybe, if they knew anything about building cars...

Couple of ads on tv today.

MILD hybrid car. Who would that appeal to? Imagine down the pub. My car is a mild hybrid!

MEDIUM cider. Still in the same pub. Pint of medium cider please?  ;D

It's the "self-charging Hybrid" that makes me laugh. Like it's a selling point!

"Fossil fuel charging Hybrid" doesn't sound quite as green, I suppose. ;D

Permanently disabled the stop/start BS. Can't believe it's taken me 3 1/2 years to get round to this.

The one section of my commute where I occasionally don't end up following some dull VW driver at 45 MPH, so I can have a play, has got average speed cameras going up. >:(

Good job I'm a reformed character, really. ::)

I'm hoping the cable ducts next to them with poly bags taped over them are an indication that they haven't been commissioned yet. Otherwise, I might need more reforming. :-X
