The head cannot affect the displacement of the engine...

You're playing with words Jamie  ;) Of couse it wouldn't affect the displacement/swept volume, but the term displacement wasn't used. You could alter the engine size of an engine with a a bigger or smaller combustion chamber volume of a different head - I've no idea the differences between engines as to where the extra 200 cc came from.  :y :y

The question was, was it still a 2.2 with a 2.0l head. The reply is that changing the head cannot affect this.

In the case of 2.0/2.2, the difference is in the stroke.

A lot of expence then, new pistons & a crank just for the sake of 200cc  ;)

indeed, but I suspect the changes were made to comply with emissions

so why are there clearance holes in a 2.0 where there should be thread holes on a 2.2?  :-/
Just curious.  ;)

He has a 2.0 head with a 2.2 rocker cover fitted. The 2.0 rocker cover doesn't have the clearance holes ;)

Ok sorry to ask again but it was starting to make my brain hurt :D I wonder why whoever done the work put a 2.0 head on and not a 2.2 unless there alot cheaper if it was me i would have on there what SHOULD be on there saying that the one thats been put on is so clean it was new or repainted the only thing that looks horrid is the cover as it has lost most of the silver

No, as TB said up there ^ somewhere the difference is in the stroke of the pistons :y

Your guess is as good as mine, could have been down to price, availability etc. As for the rocker cover again could be they picked the head up without one so just re-used to original. As long as it runs ok with the coil pack pushed down firmly I wouldn't worry too much.
