Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: CCR 2006 differing types ?
« on: 04 August 2014, 11:48:26 »
IIRC, Only the Omega ones had the BOSE option - the others will be plug and play, and will run the Omega display with no issues whatsoever

As said, its just the colours that are different

Emergency number can be triggered by faulty signal from airbag ECU. Unit us designed to call emergency number when airbags deployed.

I wasn`t aware of that one -  ???

Very clever  :y

If struggling with the code, I can do this for you, but the radio needs to be sent to me

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: CDC4 disc holder error...
« on: 25 July 2014, 09:31:02 »
Great  :'( ;D

Are lasers as poor as the ones on the Omega on other brands of cars of similar age/milage etc.. I wonder.. Such as E class, 5 series, LS430..
It's not the fault of the lasers ::) Entirely caused by user error, which makes you wonder why they bothered with the manual for the audio ::) (or the owners manual for that matter :-X)

Lasers are not that poor at all, and difficult to compare with other vehicles of similar age/mileage, as the Omega was higher spec than most and has also outlasted most other marques too. Lasers were never meant to last this long, but that said, they would last much longer if as has been mentioned, people read the manuals and stopped using non compatable media with them - its a killer.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: SatNav aerial
« on: 24 July 2014, 10:05:08 »
VAG and GM often use different shape holes, one of them is square, and one of them is round - cannot remember which is which though

Black silicone is still the best fix if the aerial is working   :y

If you are using genuine discs, its the laser that has failed. Cartridge has no bearing on disc playback,

its just a holder for when they are not is use.

Depends which version mech you have in there and which laser - easier to send it over for a free estimate than make a guess

If considering the professional ones upwards of the Supermig 150, then bear in mind that you are now over the limit for your 13A domestic mains supply, my Supermig 180 for instance needs a 32A mains supply to run it.

No problems fixing it if you wanted us to take a look at it

I should have phrased it better, my apologies Dave.  :y

Don`t apologise mate, it wasn`t taken that seriously   :y

Tunnie - I think you typed before you thought.

Not at all - A balanced forum requires input from everybody, and I respect his opinion whether it be positive or negative.   :y

Does that mean I can now ignore him then?

Only kidding  :-*

Not sure how common on Omegas, but certainly on the VAG forums I am on, its quite common for the interior dash illumination variable resistor to burn out if the controls are left permanently in a very dim position - always made worse by fitting of incorrect dash bulbs, or connecting some aftermarket head units to the lighting dimmer circuit, as it ends up pulling more current through that resistor than it was designed for.

Hope this helps.
