Drilling out rivets
« on: 05 December 2009, 00:39:36 »

Believe it or not i have never drilled out rivets before, so is there a way of doing it.After drilling out do you then pull out the remainder with pliers and how much do you need to drill out. The reason for this is because i need to get into the digi dash on my Sennie to replace a capacitor and it looks like it is riveted down in 5 places to stop tampering.  :y

generally, drill until the head comes off and diss assemble from there. Not sure in your case though. I guess it still applies...

Drill the head off as already stated, then push what is left through.
Once you have it apart, retrieve the bits.

£10 for a basic rivet gun. Go on, you know you want one.
