Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: A/C fan staying on.

Showing my Omega ignorance here, but generally this is what I would try on any other marque

I`d be looking to unplug and disconnect any water temperature sender units, or block sender units to see if any of those has a difference. If it does, identify the sender with a view to replacing it.

Are you sure its an A/C problem, and not simply a cooling fan that is coming on because it thinks the engine is overheating?

 :-/

Thanks for your reply Dave :).
I was assuming it's an A/C problem because the driver's side A/C fan comes on as soon as i switch on the ignition(engine running or not, A/C on or off, ECO on or off and engine hot or cold)but does stop if you remove the 30amp fuse.

What actually operates(tells the fan to start)the fan, is it a sensor and if so where is it situated?
I know the fan between the engine and rad. is operated by the switch under the top hose and this works fine(comes on just about 97/98 or so)but is there another switch in the rad. for the A/C fans(not seen the pass. side fan work yet)or as above is this operated by something else?

          Cheers,
                     Pete :).

Pete, just wanted to ask ... have you tried to swap the connections of the front 2 fans and see if it makes any difference?

Since the fan has leccy to it, fuses are fine and relays have been changed ... this makes me suspect a *maybe* faulty fan ... swapping the connections will prove that, if the same fan is running whilst it is connected with the other fan's connection, there would be something wrong with the fan itself. HTH  :y

 Hi Ziad,
No I've not thought of doing this but will try it and see, is there enough cable to swap them over do you know?

      Cheers,
                 Pete :).

               Thanks,
                          Pete :).

Thanks Rob,
I've already asked on here for some relays, hoping that is the problem :).

If it's not a relay, any other ideas :).

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / A/C fan staying on.
« on: 27 September 2009, 03:32:49 »
Due to my driver's side A/C fan coming on as soon as i switch the ignition on even with A/C turned off I've pulled the 30amp fuse to stop it :(.

Does anyone know what would be causing this, my MOTer said it may have something to do with a sensor, could he be right?

40 secs max with the key. You turn the key untill resistance is felt. Keep turning and door unlocks

You are making a big assumption there that the locks haven`t been changed - my suspicions are that they have !!

 ;)

It is bl00dy stiff to turn when you don't have the motor to assist you. I gave up on mine and entered from the rear .....  ::) ooer!  ;)[/s] via boot light.

I did this as well, didn't get into the car but the Postman certainly got a nice surprise :D.

Have you just tried pulling each fuse in turn and seeing if it's blown?

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for about 30 minutes and seeing if it will reset?

The relay for the fogs may be under the steering wheel with the other fuses :-/.

Thanks Ghost ;) but I've checked all the relays and they are all clean and tight so if it is a relay problem then one or more must be u/s ::).
