Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: standard nav

Even though the Carin system is now quite old it still works very well, my system would navigate to house numbers and the later ones have postcode entry. It doesn't have the interface of the Tom Toms but it is nearly 10 years old. Have you got an updated disk.

How can you navigate to housenumbers if it's the same nav system? Maybe your nav box's slightly newer than mine...which means that it's probably possible to get a box which can navigate to housenumbers and replace it with the existing one...in my car. Could you provide a modelnumber ? I assume it's compatible with the original display...
The userinterface I can live with...
Yes I've got an updated disk...2005 maps...new enough for me.

It has to be said, by far the most sensible and cost effective solution to sat nav is a portable unit (Mio C510E being my recommendation).

It is so far ahead of what you have now it is comical to compare the 2, even with the updated maps.

The new units really are superb and will fit away easily when not in use.

Yea, you're right...this is probably the best solution, at least concerning cost and user interface and I actually have a pda with tomtom, but I always forget it when I need it, so an integrated solution is a must...it's always there and difficult (or at least more difficult than a pda or other portable unit) to steal, but it's so annoying that it doesn't have the capability to navigate to housenumber.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / standard nav
« on: 28 June 2007, 20:06:38 »
Hi my first post here...
I have original nav installed in my car, I think it's a Philips/Carin...and as my car is from 1997 the nav is obviously from same year and quite outdated...so even though I bought new maps with all details I can think of, it cannot navigate to a destination by housenumber...have to enter two crossing roads.
I simply can't live with that, so I want to have a newer one...but I like it integrated in the car, so I was wondering if it possible to fit a new nav computer to the original display if it supports it? or do I have to buy a new display as well...then it most likely won't fit in where the original display is...
Any ideas?

Thanks in advance  :)

Omega General Help / Re: Where to look for the engine no.?

Sorry, I don't know what a v5 is?  :-[
Is there any other way I can determine which of these two sensors I need to buy?

On the v6 it is on a machined flat surface next to the oil filter. Smiley

Yes, I forgot to mention that it's a 3.0 V6...

Omega General Help / What's mini facelift?
« on: 30 June 2007, 00:44:43 »
Maybe a silly question, but what does mini facelift include? How do I see if my car is a mini facelift...
I can see form the FAQ that the mini facelift was introduced in 1998 with satnav and ccr800 bose sound system...which my 1997 model has...is my car then a mini facelifted?

Hi there
Finally I found an Omega forum in english!  :y
Been struggling in all the german foras...but now I have found an english audience, ready to be spammed with all of my ignorance  :-[
Already surfed the site and found lots of interesting topics, great!
I can start apology my poor english, but hope it won't be a problem, at least it's a lot better than my german  ;D
Bye for now
Kee

Facts about my car:
Omega B 3.0 MV6 from 1997
Mileage: 140000km
Colour: Black
Steinmetz frontspoiler
Irmscher chrome grill
18' Steinmetz split rims, Pirelli+Dunlop tires
Leather interiour, electrical adjustable
Navi, etc...

Story about my car:
In january 2007 (this year) I went to germany to buy my first Omega...just south of Leipzig.
My plan was to drive it back home to Denmark, but after 500km the automatic gearbox died and I had to pay a fortune to get it to Copenhagen on the back of a truck. With some help from a friendly mechanic, I had a new gearbox mounted and it was ready to drive in Denmark with the most expensive equipment you can think of...danish license plates...they costed me twice the price of the car  :o

Fantastic Looking Car Mate

Steinmetz Front End & Steinmetz Wheels Cool

Thanks  :)
Yes, 18' Steinmetz...would really like to have them rear wheels a bit wider, but probably more comfortable in this size.
I think Steinmetz looks awsome on these cars...thinking of changing the grill to a steinmetz as well.

MV6 myself one day. Love the spoiler but it would'nt clear my driveway!!

It's really not that bad...or at least not when the car isn't lowered  :-/

I believe Denmark, car bought from Germany

That's right, Denmark...with the crazy taxes on cars...something like 200%  :o so I'm strongly considering moving to Sweden...only 30 minutes away from where I live now and with nice taxes  :y then I could afford a facelifted...

Hi
Newbie here, so just wanted to flash my car as well  ;)
I'm quite satisfied with the look, but the front needs to come a bit closer to the ground...
