SWMBO likes shops
A little while ago she was persuaded to get a well known store loyality card
She recently had a call telling her that she'd won a weekend for two in Vienna. Flights and hotel
Yeah right . . . .
No really, said the caller. Emails followed . . .
Yeah right . . . .
Mentioned it in local well known store, who confirmed it all
More emails
Off in January    :y  + €250 to spend in Vienna well known store

It's going to cost us food drink, transport to airports etc, but hey . . .

I've stopped looking for the "catch"  :y

There's still time . . . . .  ::)

They can nick you for speeding
CCTV nicks people for parking
CCTV nicks people for dropping fag butts and chewing gum
Sensors turn on lights, and activate all sorts of things

And yet, this sounds like something from an old film

GREAT ESCAPE ?

So . . .

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-37763975

I've made recent purchases from a number of companies that have done this, and Premier Inn Hotels have been doing it for some time. I quite like it, but not sure about at supermarkets. The speed of the checkout makes it hard to see if you've been charged correctly. Standing at the checkout and running an eye down the strip of paper makes it easy to immediately go and get it put right in the event of a "mistake". After you're home ? Not so easy and likely to be not done. And of course "mistakes" are always in favour of the shop, not the customer.

So, after various other threads, discussions, offers for sale it's gone. Gone to a good home  :y

In a nutshell, back in July I had to go to France. The MV6 played up big time just a couple of days before leaving, so I bought a Volvo XC70. At first I was going to keep it and tinker, but I really don't have the time, I just wasn't going to spend even more money on it, and I just don't need three big estate cars (SWMBO has a Volvo 940 Est).

Did a deal with JamesV6CDX. Great guy and happy to see he's doing quite well after his near fatal collision earlier this year. Picked him and his toolkit up at the station.

Both sides plug wells had water in them, right sides were like swimming pools. James recons water coming through the leaking windscreen seals, saturating the soundproofing, then flooding the plug wells, plus non genuine coil packs  >:( . Couple of hours, all fixed and off he goes. So, a pretty nice MV6 saved from the scrapheap  :y , it will be nicer after James has sorted it.

I've had 4 Omegas, but alas, no more now. They're just too old and I really need reliability for long business trips. However, I'll still stick around here just to annoy STEMO    ::)

The new Shadow Cabinet

"Diane Abbott has been promoted to shadow home secretary"

"Shami Chakrabarti is shadow attorney"

I wait for more with bated breath . . . . He really does want to lose the next general election, big time

General Discussion Area / I find this a bit strange
« on: 01 October 2016, 20:20:48 »

During WWII how would it have been if we had told the world that we had radar

How would it have been if the USA told everyone they had the A Bomb

If we had announced the D Day landings in advance

Yet these days everything is discussed and "transparent"

This should happen, but we should not know about it, unless of course knowing is itself a tactical move. But, I think too much is discussed in public. Lets have a vote on a war - and warn the enemy. DOH !

ANNOUNCE TO THE WORLD

Cars for Sale & wanted / '03 MV6 3.2 Auto Est
« on: 26 September 2016, 17:08:14 »
'03 MV6 3.2 Auto Est   NOT Silver !

I bought this car in 2013 at around 75k Miles. I had a HPI check done at the time, I believe the mileage to be correct, at some stage in the past it had a personal plate. Since I got it I've had it maintained well as I need a reliable car and do occasional very long trips. Initiall work was done by an independent, then with a VX dealer, then with an independent again, so history is a bit mixed and certainly not complete. I don't do my own work, so everything was done by a garage.

First, The bad !
I'm in Carmarthen, Wales. So not easy to get to and a long way for most "just to have a look". So I'm going to be brutally honest.
At present it is now SORN
The engine management light comes on and engine misses. This has only happened since I had new coil packs fitted and a new cam sensor. Stupidly I had these done before a big trip to France, but I ended up buying a new car for the trip. I now have a Volvo so the MV6 is simply surplus to requirements. If I didn't have the Volvo I would absolutely spend some cash and get it sorted. I like it.
Some superficial body damage. Scrapes with parking bollards, just paintwork not deep.
Rear bumper, some damage.
MOT till 20th October
The bits around the windscreen (technical term!) aren't fitting properly
Radio/CD player occasionally refuses to accept the CD holder, and the radio doesn't remember stations and doesn't autotune.
A rear wheel is buckled. On the front it was a problem but not on the back.

The Good
It's a great colour, NOT rare Silver ! and scrubs up very well
I still have the original intact cam sensor. I replaced it as I wanted to avoid failure on a big trip
Some recent service/repair receipts
INCLUDES 5 spare wheels with tyres. Reasonable condition, tyres are some good and some not so good
I have a spare CCR 2006, but no idea if it works ok. I actually have 2, but one has some CDs stuck inside so I'll be smashing it up
The tyres on the car are excellent. Not cheapos. Bridgestone Potenza all round.
Due to clunky changes I had the auto box oil changed a couple of years ago. All fine since
No visible rust that I can see, not even the usual on the hatch door near the wiper
Quite a few CCR2006 CD cassettes from various other Omegas I've had
Cam belt and tensioners done at 100k by local Vx dealer. I'll need to see if I can find reciept.

The rules say that there has to be a price, so I'll say £400, but all offers considered.

The car is not really driveable at present, probably something simple.

If there are any questions or whatever PM me and I'll provide email address and/or phone number, also reg No if you want to do some checks. I'm happy to take more pics of anything.

I am NOT prepared to sell parts, it's all or nothing.

General Discussion Area / Time to go, booo hooo hooo . . .
« on: 23 September 2016, 21:49:45 »
I'll be putting proper details in the For Sale section when I get some pictures taken and get relevant info together. Plus I don't want to get knuckles rapped for making this a full advert  ::)

But, I've decided the MV6 must go. Just before leaving for France in July it started playing up, engine missing and management light on. No time to get it sorted so I bought a Volvo from my mechanic. He then had the MV6 and said something about water in the plug wells, not really sure. It was ok for a while, but now the same thing. I just don't do DIY and I'm not going to spend more money on it, so it needs to go. Two problems, it's not running right still missing and still light on, and It's in Carmarthen, a long way from anybody. I'll be offering it with a complete sets of decent spare wheels that I bought from Joff.

Details to follow soon. Just giving a heads up. Be a shame to just scrap it  :'(
