Omega Estate LPG wanted
« on: 20 March 2012, 17:53:21 »

(a mod will have to move this please)  :)

My sister in law is unsucessfully trying to persuade me to part with 'Morticia', as she wants to replace her ageing Merc 300D Avantgarde (usual built in rot problem with the W210 models, car has only done about 80k tho).

She's interested in LPG due to running costs, but hasnt told me if she wants manual or auto (she's got a manual Megane Cabrio, the Merc is Automatic).

I've been keeping an eye on Ebay, but the cars on there all seem to have problems, and there's no desperate rush, so if any of you are selling, or know of a Miggy estate, LPG, probably Automatic, thats in the £500-£800 price bracket, then give me a shout and I'll pass the info on.

SIL lives in Derbyshire, so if a car was local-ish to the Midlands/South Yorkshire/Cheshire, that would be ideal.

cheers,

Claire

Have to say that worried me a little too  :(
Know nothing about lpg systems or installs ( yet  ;) ) but thought it was a nice looking car nonetheless. That register thing is a handy tool! Though if I were to get it done it would probably be to my own car, rather than buy someone else's.

Not at all. Just not impressed with the workmanship of the LPG conversion ;) Of course, it probably runs fine... It's just not as tidy as I would expect ;)

That's what I think is the best option. Get a car you know runs perfectly and then convert it :y

.. or get one dirt cheap that barely runs on either fuel and tidy up the install. Really depends if you want a bargain or a project.

lol guys!!  you really do know how to make me laugh when I'm bunged up with a head cold   :y

I'll show my SIL the Elite, the big tank in the boot might put her off, like someone said, it makes an estate pretty useless with it there - wonder why they didnt put it lengthways down the side of the boot?  At least you could still drop the back seats then.....

I dont think she's in a mad rush, the Merc is still going despite having a diesel leak that will cost a fortune to put right apparantly, so she's prepared to wait for the right car.

cheers,

Claire

Very difficult to get it through an inspection and, in a collision, it's like a missile because it won't compress ;)

ah, good point well made  :)

I'll have a chat to her in the coming weeks and get a more definate price/wishlist for a car off of her, then start the search in earnest - she might yet got for a diesel, but I think she's warming to the idea of fuel thats virtually half price  :)
