My guess is if we piss about for too long the other 27 countries will vote and then implement article 50 for us.

And we will.
Here's my prediction for the next 12months:

For the next three months we get to watch the Conservative party tear itself apart electing a new leader.

Whichever ambitious opportunist gets the job will spend the first month publicly congratulating everyone how it's going to be great.

His second month will consist of him realising that he's grabbed a poisoned chalice, and that nobody has any idea of what to do.

There will six months of allegiances, bust ups, whinging, and posturing but no useful work being done. Typical politics.

And then the EU will demand a final exit date. And having used up whatever goodwill we might currently have, any negotiations won't go well for us.

Short term, say 2 years, nothing much will change.
Medium term, 2 to 10 years, we're oppsed.
Long term after that, who knows? We might come out of it with a new King, strong government, healthy economy, effective relations with the rest of the world and an endless supply of sparkling rhubarb wine to celebrate with. Of those, only one has any certainty.

You missed one bit. Then that leader of the Tories will get the boot. The next election with a new party leader will be fought on a platform of overturning the still in limbo exit. We will go back having never actually left but on worse terms than we had. They have already worsened a bit.

My post was already turning into too much of a rant, so I omitted that part. It will be one of the medium term problems.

This is going to be a difficult process, with many unpopular decisions to be made. That will require strong leadership and the political clout to enforce it. So far nobody has shown any. That's the main reason that the Leave campaign convinced me to vote Remain.

I hope that I'm wrong about all this, and that our government(and the rest of us!) can make it work.

A drum kit?
I'm not worried, you're on the other side of the country and the rain in Wales will help to damp( ;D ) the noise.

Isn't it great?

We vote to leave, but choose when. Welcome to the new DK - the Disunited Kingdom or Minor Britain, either will do

Apparently you WILL  have to change your number plates and they will still have to carry the EU star insignia, except there will an FU alongside it!!  ;) ;D

As the plates are a standard, you could set yourself up selling  kits to convert from an EU plate to an FU one. Sounds like a business opportunity; a roll of yellow tape, some scalpels, employ a low-paid unskilled immigrant to cut the little strips and you could retire in luxury to the Algarve.

Anybody know which way the handbrake star wheel adjusters work, up or down ?

It depends which way they were assembled; mine differ side-to-side.
If they're adjusted properly it only takes a few teeth on the adjuster wheel to determine which way to turn them. If they're not adjusted it might take you a while.

I think we'll need a hard nosed bastard as our PM for the next few years and one who isn't bothered about popularity or looking cool! Michael Gove anyone?   ???

That hard-nosed bastard will also need a clear idea of what direction to take, a workable plan to achieve it, and the political clout within the Conservative party to force through all of the unpalatable decisions over the next four years. He will need to have an efficient way of becoming the Conservative leader in the first place.

After riding into 10 Downing St on his own personal unicorn, his first speech should be to explain what the opps he has been doing for the last two years.

"We have voted to leave the EU. The pound has plunged by 10%. Markets are in turmoil. A very bad day for those with stocks and shares".
Here's Carol with the weather  :)

So the referendum was supposed to prevent the weather as well as creating Utopia? I must have missed that part of the campaign.

Ahh.. Speaking of which, I might have broken an 8.2 Big block chevy last night. ::) It didn't sound very nice. :-[

How?  Even Americans can't break a big-block :o

7527
Aye  :)

I mean in a way its the same argument with MV6 / Elite owners - must be 50% on here own Elites, and even the CDX gets snubbed as 'lowly' (when in reality the only thing you'd notice day-to-day is lack of leather seats - but some Elites have velour too)

I was looking at that last week, there isn't much difference between an Elite and a CDX with leather. Some of the differences are hard to see as an improvement; the self-levelling rear suspension(I've towed with it twice in 5 years) and the Bose stereo that almost certainly has a wornout head unit. Others like the memory seats are of very limited use to me as the car is very rarely driven by other drivers.  I'd like the heated driver's seat to work, as the other 3 still do but that's a fault with my car.

These are the things I'd actually miss:

did they do a 3.0l CDX? A 2.5 costs the same to own as a 3.0l, but isn't as nice to drive.
the auto-dipping rearview mirror. Cheap and easy to retro-fit so is hardly a problem
Cruise control. Another retro-fit if the car didn't come with it
Sunroof. I use it all year round except on really hot days when the A/C is better.

Omega General Help / Re: Rear Crank Seal?
« on: 21 June 2016, 20:49:58 »

It's also quite oily at the front, so yes the front crank seal and oil pressure sender will have to be looked at as well at some time.  Cam belt is not far away, so that's a good a time as any.  :)

Easy once you've loosened the crank bolt. Which is seriously tight, and requires a robust method of locking the crank. Mine is a bar that bolts across the pulley and wedges against the water pump. Another couple of holes the bar turns it into a pulley extractor
