Hi all,

Shortly after the birth of my daughter 9 months ago we decided to buy a diesel (ashamed but true) since then the MV6 has been decommissioned and at the beginning I was still using it here and there trying to keep the battery topped up but inevitably I left it too long and the last time I took her out I had to start with jump leads but during the run she wasn't behaving right, the dash speedo and rev counter would jump around now and then and the dash lights would light up randomly. The engine was fine and got me back home after an hour run but wouldn't start back up after that, the alternator is new so I don't think its a charge issue. Battery light was not on during the run. My personal opinion is there is nothing wrong with the car but the battery is dead. I am trying to get me hands on a charger to test it but haven't as yet. I can't really justify spending any serious cash on the car at the moment but in the same breath I will not scrap her, doing my best not to break her either. I would like her to live on and keep on rolling for years to come.

I will be as honest as I can and I really hope someone will buy to use and if they do break it I don't wanna know hehe! There is no point listing it like autotrader, you guys know what the score is.

Everything works apart from the nearside electric mirror doesn't go left or right and the drivers side heated seat has failed. She blue smokes a little on startup which is stem oil seals and I never had done because it doesn't cause any damage and it was just to expensive. No smoke while driving. The windscreen has a horseshoe crack near where the tax disc used to go (Not MOT failure). A clever person would easily get a new on through insurance. Never had auto gearbox issues, service history is lacking as allot of it has been done by forum members etc but it has been serviced when required. Pete Ellis was the last to do a full major service, brakes all round plus gearbox fluid top up.

As for a price I am looking for sensible offers, I know the car needs a little TLC to get going again but I know she has another 100k left in her! Would be a shame to take her off the road for good.

This is the latest pic I have but it wasn't cleaned before hand. unfortunately now she's behind the gates and its really tight so taking pics is not possible. When the weather is better I plan on valeting. All other pics below are from some time ago but nothing has changed much.

This is from the calendar shoot a few years ago

Engine - Pipercross is not fitted at the moment but I do have it and can go with the car

Hi all, I would like to know your opinion on this noise that has just stated on the MV6. It actually started a couple of weeks back but before I had chance to check it out it stopped and has been fine since so I didn't think to much of it. Today it started again and seems to be getting progressively louder. Doesn't sound nice at all!

Its basically a creaking sound but it seems uniform not random like a normal creak might be. Its almost like a cog slipping type sound rather than a rubber bush type sound if that makes any sense.

I recorded the sound just now on my phone and the file is here in my public google drive folder. The car was stationery and the microphone was at the front wheel not inside the car. But it sounds pretty much the same in and out.

https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B4jQ2nbHLRvUQUp0YUJzbnJpLUU&usp=sharing

I would really appreciate your opinion on this problem. I have searched and read other posters with similar issues but I am not 100% they are the exact same problem.

Cheers

Omega General Help / Breakdown Troubleshoot Help
« on: 23 June 2013, 18:51:46 »
Just broken down towing the caravan, battery light came on for a while, stopped, engine off, back on, still battery lifght, had to try pushing on, it then went off 10 minutes later, 10 minutes after that the tc and abs lights came on and off a few times. Then lost all dash instruments. Pulled over and switched off. Now won't turn over, also no battery light at all when ignition is on.

Recovery turned up and car starts with battery booster was idling high for a while now OK. Still no battery light when ignition on. And won't start when battery booster off the car.

I initially thought alternator but I'm not sure. All lights are fine, windows work fine no sign off flat battery.

Any help much appreciated

Omega General Help / Slight whining noise under acceleration
« on: 15 April 2013, 12:50:12 »
As the subject really. Yesterday I noticed a slight whining sound when accelerating. It doesn't start immediately. You hear it initially at around 2000-3000rpm then it appears to go away then comes back again around 4000-4500rpm roughly. It seems to be louder if you accelerate harder. If you accelerate really gently its hardly noticeable. At any point as soon as you lift of the gas it stops. Also hear it now and then at motorway speeds again when overtaking etc.

My initial thought was Auto box but I'm aware it could be a number of things like a belt tensioner, diff, bearings.

Anyone have any ideas? or some easy ways to narrow it down? The car has just been through an MOT last week but I doubt things lift the diff will get checked.

Cheers  :y

As the title suggests, I am in desperate need for someone or someone who knows someone (hehe) that might be able to help with a sports/super car car project in the CAD & Computer design area.

I can't really show any images on the internet as they need to be kept secret, the car in question is built but the body is all wood, very well made, looks stunning. Its not what you would normally expect from a kit car type thing.

This car is not really a kit car, it is the prototype for a possible kit car range and has been built from the ground up with only minimal components used from other vehicles. The person in question is at a stage were he needs real help from someone who can create computer image's of the car on computer to be able to get a website up and running and then to be able to go to companies with decent visuals who may be able to help fund the production of the bodywork etc.

He is looking to put a website together similar to this http://www.shayton.eu/ for publicity.

Hope this makes sense, if anyone has anything to offer please get in touch. Unfortunately there wouldn't me much in the way of a payment for doing this but if the project gets off the ground, the drawings would be their own property and could subsequently worth something.

I am hopefully acquiring a NCDC 2013 & CID soon, coming out of a (02) 2002 2.6 MV6 and going into a (51) 2002 2.6 MV6 to replace a CCR2006 and MID.

I am aware its not standard or option fit in the MV6 so its been retro fitted into the car and loom modifications required. It will also need De-Bose'ing as I don't have the Bose equipment to go with it at the moment.

I am in need of an expert to fit this for me please, what are my options being in Leeds.

Cheers  ;)

General Car Chat / Quick question about the CID
« on: 02 October 2012, 20:44:06 »
I was just wondering if the CID sat nav displays the map as driving without having to input a destination or does it only come on when routing?

Cheers in advance?  :y

Big thank you to Elite Pete for sacrificing his Sunday to travel to Leeds and fit a new thermostat and cam cover gaskets to my MV6. Great work as always and nice to catch up.  :y

Omega General Help / Small Vibration over 80 after new Tires?
« on: 01 December 2011, 12:34:50 »
The Mig has always been spot on at speed regarding vibrations, the wheel has always be silky smooth but I have noticed after having 4 new tires recently I can feel a vibration at 80+. Its not bad at all but I notice it, others may not.

Do you think its a straight get the wheels balanced again or do you think if it was the balancing it would start at lower speeds?

I also had Discs & pads done recently, I admittedly drove on warped discs for longer than I should which used to vibrate badly when braking from motorway speeds & I am worried I may have done some damage somewhere!

Any thoughts  ;)

Omega General Help / Engine Temp changing when Climate On
« on: 18 November 2011, 16:15:36 »
I have had this for a while but thought it was normal until Elite Pete pointed out it was not normal on my recent visit.  :y

Basically the engine will warm up too normal operating temp (around 90 degrees). If I turn on the climate regardless of if the car is moving or not the engine temp drops to below 80 degrees, on a motorway it drops even lower, worrying low.

Pete said it is probably the thermostat but to check on here before doing anything.

I'm assuming its not doing any real damage but will be causing the engine to run rich and use more fuel?

I have found that using the ECO button which turns off the AC & Dehumidifier the temp goes back up to normal.

So the question is, does it sound like the thermostat?  :(

Omega General Help / BROKEN DOWN - CODE SEEMS TO BE 0335
« on: 12 November 2011, 17:11:04 »
Was just going to petrol station, stopped at lights, didn't even realise it had stopped at first. Thought it was fuel. Put some in but only a bit. Just turning over.

Is that code the crank sensor?

God its hard to move these buggers with no power.

Hi all

It's that time again! Discs & pads are shot! Been quoted £200 for front discs, pads & rear pads (Mintex). Sounds expensive to me!!

Does anyone have a price for a genuine set of front discs & pads and a set of rear pads?

Would be great if I could get at Trade Club price, can anyone help?

As title really. Don't really know what it means but just looking at a Headunit from a New Zafira and wondered if it would fit in the Mig.  ;)

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Double DIN Head units? Which One?
« on: 28 October 2008, 07:41:50 »
I am currently toying with the Idea of getting a double din head unit to replace standard radio. Would have to have DVD and Ideally like sat nav built in but to be honest I don't think I can afford that too. I have been looking at the Pioneer AVH-P4000DVD (No Sat Nav), Pioneer Avic-D3 & Pioneer AVIC-HD3 (Too Expensive  :'(). I am also worried about my steering wheel controls not working, can any head unit be plugged into the controls? not as bothered about the MID Screen info being missing though.
