Had any lucky applying commuting across 2 policies, but only one car at a time?

Renew is up in Sept, both will (if cheaper) going onto a multi car policy. Only one of the cars is used to commute at any one time, depends if MrsT has the 2.2.

As I normally use that if its raining or too cold for the bike. But if she has/needs the 2.2, I take the 3.2.

3.2's policy expires in a week and is in that "stop gap" period before joining the multi car policy in September, hence asking now.

Me and the Mrs use shielas wheels, they do multi car and mirror your NCB onto both, not had any issues.

Hummm Mirror NCB sounds nice, MrsT will only have the one year as she stopped driving for over a decade.

Anyone managed to get Admiral to mirror NCB?

Any other good multi-car policies offer mirroring?

I use Admiral multicar, both cars are insured for me and spouse for business use  which normally includes commuting and for use in connection with my or my spouses business,I am self employed she is employed.
You need to be clear about who you give as the Main driver of each vehicle and who else is entitled to drive,
A normal "commuting" policy only entitles you to commute to and from one place of business, many people get caught out if travelling to different offices, if you do this you really need to include a business add on, class 1 business maybe class 2 business.

Tbh I do most of the driving, across both, but she needs to be main to clock NCB.

She can't go main on 3.2, too friggin expensive

Include commuting on both cars with spouse as main on 2.2 and you as occasional, in the real world the ncb  or lack off will not be too detrimental if she only does a limited mileage in both cars, you do limit or stipulate the mileage don't you?

Yes. 5k/year on the 3.2, 7k/year on 2.2 also have 5k/year on the bike.

Yeah. Hoping some will mirror NCD, would make a big difference.

Yes last year - just moved to Axa though as they wanted silly money for the LPG Estate

If you have cars that are worth .. well, newer cars, REIS have a good family policy scheme - I can get the truck, BMW and RX8 insured for £800 including breakdown or £1050 including fully comprehensive cover on any car not owned by me up to £150,000 value.

I got stung on an Admiral multicar.

3 cars on the policy, but 2 came on mid policy so didn't gain a full NCB for that year as Admiral nicely move all the renewal dates to the same date. This works out great whilst you stay with them, for me the quote the following year was silly, but I now had to insure 3 vehicles in one month instead of being spaced throughout the year.

Never again.

That's them.. When I only had the Omega & M3 they weren't competitive but with the truck they are very much so (truck was nearly £700 on it's own last year).. I'm dealing with Lyndsey Farmer there.

Do they do bikes? I'm guessing only 2 cars makes them not competitive? I'll only have the 2.2 and 3.2 to insure with them.

Honestly they'll probably decline to quote .. it wasn't until I had £26k's worth of truck that they were interested or competitive..

Guessing when my cars are combined value is less than £2.6k they won't be interested

I always found Admiral multi-car more expensive than insuring each car separately with Admiral.....go figure

I rang Admiral earlier today as my classic policy expires on the Disco on 25th of this month. Chap I spoke to said he'd match my no claims I have on my Skoda (as I've only got 1yr on the Disco) and cover me for £300.

Aviva multi car/multi policy discounts ie car(s) and house, have used this in conjunction with topcashback site, has worked out with competitive prices for me in essence, house and 2 cars covered for the price of 2 policies after multipolicy discount and cashback . I do have 10yrs NCD for each vehicle, and near retirement age - so yes, need to spend time researching whats on offer
