General Discussion Area / Re: So who's got snow?
« on: 18 January 2013, 19:11:26 »
Response to the snow has been pitiful here. Plenty of warning yet roads pretty much untreated. Still, got Mrs. KW to work and on to the office only to be told the building was closing at 12, so a couple of hours' work then back again. :D

I think the authorities now work on the basis that if they tell everyone to stay at home, and make essential journeys only, nobody can complain about the lack of gritters and snowploughs and private business will just have to stomach the cost of lost productivity. ::)
Heads should roll down there as happened up here in Scotland in 2010 our transport minister was ejected and our new one (Keith Brown) hasn't pissed about either all last week gritters were out on all major routes all councils have access to thousands of tons of salt no expense spared even my council went out and bought 12 4x4's, four of which have plough attachments and salt spreaders on the back. also they bought four 4x4 gritters which brings our gritters to 10 aslo 6 bobcats (not been used yet) and any hgv driver in the council that wanted to got trained on all gritters.
So far today the council has spread 600+ton of salt and weve had no snow

No glow plugs on these as they are a di engine.

Usual cause this time of year is not enough power in the battery for a quick enough spin. Best cure is to wire up a second battery on the other side of the engine bay. ( there s a proper location for a second battery)

Clean out the inlets if its done a few miles and blank the egr while your there.
As he say DI no gp's also check the lift pump on the side of the engine is working also the fuel filter for water.
Gas oil tends to go cloudy if left sitting for to long when it gets frosty its somthing to do with the die that alters chemistry. The gas oil pump at my work does it every year when it gets frosty and JMW are forever cleaning the pipe work and filters out :y

have you checked the timing on the cambelt,it could have slipped a tooth at some point
Timings fine mate it was running an 2 hours before it was transplanted.
It turns out the imobiliser needs to be re mapped to accept the injector pump.
Thanks for all the replys chaps :y

As per title ive swaped the engine on my ldv but the new engine wont fire.
Its the 2.4 duratorq my ldv was a 53 reg and the donner is a 54 reg.
Ive tried putting the ecu and imobiliser pickup at the key from the donner van but the engine wont turn over at all but it turns over ok with the original ecu/imobiliser.
Does the fuel pump need to be re-mapped.
I'm thinking the imobiliser has somthing to do with it as the small red light on the dashboard is flashing like crazy.
just to add Im getting fuel at the injectors
you have immobiliser issue , did you replace transporder near steering wheel?
as red light flush about immo error

BTW where about in UK are you as i can programming ford injectors :y
I took the transponder from the donor van (plus key) but the engine refuses to turn over ive also tried swaping ecu's same again won't turn over but if I put the original ecu/transponder in it turns over ok just no life.
I forgot to mention this engine isnt a common rail.
The van is in Edinburgh it's a conversion from a 17 seat bus to a motorhome (sad I know pmsl)

Unplug the maff with the engine running if it then runs like a bag of bolts the maff is working ok.
if no change in the engines tone the maffs knackered.
This is one of those things that you just have to live with (code 64) until the pump fails. Don't go spending money you dont need to ive been there done that ;)

If its still running just keep using forte diesel treatment.
The only way to cure the fault code is to replace the injector pump as the sensor that causes code 64 is in the guts of the pump and its a Bosch fix.
When it starts cutting out on you then its breaked

Omega General Help / Re: 2.5 TD no fuel at injectors
« on: 01 December 2012, 20:39:59 »
Judging by your post you have been tampering with the main injector pump but what seals are you talking about is it the one in the link below.
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90655.0
Also have you put a live feed direct from the battery to the fuel pump solinoid and listen for it clicking mind only touch the top threaded bit.(Its in the first picture on the above link)
The only thing that will stop fuel getting to the injectors is the fuel pump solinoid thats what allows the engine to start/stop
What part of the country are you in maybe a mobile mechanic here on oof might be able to help

Omega General Help / Re: snow chains on 235/45 17 M&S tyres
« on: 21 November 2012, 16:31:02 »
The reason for the low preasure is to let the tyre flex more to dispell the snow from the tread and I only lowered the preasure when in deep snow not normal road driving just incase theres any confusion :y

I wouldn't waste your money on snow chains I always put 205x85x15 steels on in the snow and dropped the tyre preasure to 15psi plus if you hit a kerb your not damaging an expensive alloy.
Oh and I had Barums on the steel :y
