General Discussion Area / Re: Repairing your cordless batteries
« on: 02 January 2014, 16:45:37 »
Another thought, are there better cells I could use?
Best cells to use is a truck battery(s)12-24v. ;D ;D
Here's how. The auto spark at my work bought a brand new top of the range snap-on impact driver minus the i-on battery (18 volt)for £50.00 from the snap-on rep he then attached a 6 metre flex to the terminals inside the gun and put clips on the other end and all he has to do is connect it to either 12 or 24 volt set up (truck, bus or van etc).
When I asked him how it worked he said great best £50 he ever spent he said that because it's 18v and has a forward reverse function on it,it doesn't matter how you connect it to the battery and you get away with running it on 12v or 24v. This also works with normal battery drills and he recommends only doing it on a 18v or more drill.

General Car Chat / Re: HGVs 'Overtaking'
« on: 24 November 2013, 11:22:29 »
I think overtaking for LGVs should be banned between the hours of 7am and 7pm ::)

The between A41 Chester and Whitchurch poxes me off. You get stuck behind 2 LGV doing 40mph and the second LGV is right up the chuff of the first so mo gap to nip into should you run out of road when over taking so your stuck for 20 miles. Then you get the sign for a dual carriageway in 1 mile, brilliant. You get to the dual carriageway and the second truck pulls out to overtake the first truck but the driver has burried his foot so they accelerate at the same speed. The overtaking truck either gets past very slowly at the end of the dual carriageway leaving you stranded at the side of the first truck and there's no way he's going to be letting you in or the second truck has to pull back in and everything goes back to how it was for the last 20 miles.
My question is. If the first LGV driver was happy doing 40mph for the last 20 miles why bury the throttle for a mile of dual carriageway ???
single carrageway 40mph ,dual 50 ,motorway 60

« on: 19 August 2013, 10:07:19 »
Don't know if worked, but some of the guys I used to work with fashioned a piece of lead sheeting to cover the gps unit , blocking the signal , sounds good in theory?
Tinfoil wrapped around the black box after you disconnect the gsm and gps ariels and don't pull the two power feeds out as this will set of an alarm. Most ive come across are in the dashboard as the take power of the battery directly and also the radio so when you turn on the ignition it activates the tracker. This works on the tom tom system :-X

Omega General Help / Re: facelift 2.5td rear susp
« on: 30 May 2013, 07:05:12 »
ps just got through my first 20litre batch of filtered blended WVO this week, running like a champ.
Would you run the engine with no oil in the sump?
This is what your doing by putting veggie in you fuel tank. The injector pump is lubricated with the oil in proper diesel.
You could add a small amount of two stroke to the veggie mix but as said these hate veggie :'(

It does seem like its trying to stall when I change gear. Got a flat spot then picks up again. I will see if I can source a second hand pump from somewhere if the diesel treatment doesnt work. The guy I bought it off was running it on used cooking oil so thats probably whats done it. Never mind. I will drive it til it dies if I cant get another pump. :y
Theres the answer to your problem (cooking oil) these engines hate it. the fuel pump will be knackered because diesel lubricates the guts of the pump where as cooking oil doesn't.
It's the same as running the engine with no oil.
Theres no point wasting money on diesel magic it won't work
