Advice please
« on: 18 March 2015, 22:23:42 »

picked up a CD for spares, the previous owner did not bother exchanging details although gave me the registration document. Do I still need to register the vehicle in my name before it goes to the scrap yard or what. What is the easiest way to half a tank of fuel taking into consideration battery and all electrical connections removed?

Just take the parts off the car you want then take it to the scrap yard with the V5 and your driving licence for I.D.
The scrap yard is only interested in the V5 and they will give you a transfer/proof of destruction note.
No need to put car in your name :y

Needs to be sorned now as they're either taxed, untaxed or sorned, and untaxed will eventually get someone round to the registered address.

to empty tank, just apply 12v straight to pump above tank - extend leads first, so any sparking is well away from fuel.
