General Discussion Area / Lakes Meet: 1 week to go!
« on: 29 June 2012, 10:59:22 »
As per the title... Just one more week to go! :y :y :y

Just a thought... Is the site still OK with all the bad weather? :-\ :-\ The forecast doesn't look great for next weekend either :(

We're travelling up to mu Mum's place on the Thursday night so we can get over there at a sensible time on the Friday. Kills 2 birds with 1 stone too as we haven't seen her for a while :y

What's happening about the canopies? Are we not bothering? Or do we need to arrange collecting them from the current keepers? I could probably pick up the one from MDTM on my way up on Thursday and drop it back to him on Monday when I come back (as I'll be stopping there to drop off something else anyway) :-\

General Discussion Area / Just had a good call out...
« on: 23 June 2012, 20:21:41 »
... Called out by a contract customer... Conversation with the call centre went like this:

"We've got an Iveco Stralis Tractor Unit with a ruptured tank that needs draining ASAP"

"Yep, I'll do it"

"You don't know where it is yet!"

"Can't be too far out of area... I'll do it"

"OK"

Just drained over 500L of good Diesel :y :y :y

Bit of an odd question but here goes...

I'm expanding the Fuel Doctor business into Kent next month and am looking for an employee to work the area for me. I wonder if any of the Kent members could let me know what the best local papers are in the Maidstone area please?

If any of the Kent members might be interested, or know someone who is out of work and looking, feel free to PM me for more details.

Thanks in advance for the help :y

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CID Weirdness
« on: 19 April 2012, 21:47:41 »
I think I know the answer to this (and I'm not gonna like it!) but my CID has started showing a bluish tinge when showing the junction zoom on Nav. I don't remember it being like it before I parked it up in November but I may have seen it a couple of times :-\

Is this one of the warning signs that it's on the way out?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Nokia CK7W and Telematics
« on: 17 April 2012, 20:12:33 »
I suppose this is mainly aimed at TB but....

Is there any way I can get the Nokia kit working? Even if I have to unplug the telematics as I need to be able to call out from my iPhone now instead of the NCDC :-\

General Discussion Area / Anyone run TomTom on their gayphone?
« on: 13 March 2012, 22:40:10 »
Serious question! Anyone use the TomTom "App" for iPhone as their choice of SatNag?

I need to know the pro's and Con's because I'm considering that route for job dispatch and management ;) Particularly interested in how good the mapping and routing is (is it as good as a stand alone unit?) and the traffic add on.

Thanks

General Car Chat / Drove a Jag XJR last night
« on: 11 March 2012, 13:20:19 »
As the title, was driver for a group of 4 last night and used the Brother in Law's Jag because the Omega has no MOT ::)

What an engine (V8 Supercharged)/box combination... It goes well :-X ::)

However, I hated the drive and have said that I'd rather not drive it again until the bits are sorted. He was aware of the issues I found but isn't ready for the 4 figure repair bill yet ::) Needs, 2 wheel bearings, shock mounts and bushes all around.

It was the most awful drive I have ever experienced in that the car, mainly the rear end, just seemed to wander all over the place. I've always said that the Gayboy bloke was a bit anal about rear end movement but having experienced this drive it makes even the worst Omega I've ever driven seem good :o :o I was doing about 20mph in town when I noticed the wander so I couldn't really enjoy the 20 mile drive home because I was constantly correcting it :'(

Still... I'm looking forward to having another go when it's all sorted because it doesn't half pick up!!! :y :y

General Discussion Area / Oil Fired Central Heating Boiler
« on: 04 March 2012, 22:01:47 »
Right, as we seem to be a wealth of knowledge on here I'll ask away...

We have oil fired central heating with a 30ish year old Bosch Worcester Boiler... In the 7 years we've lived here it has only needed a good service and a pump.

I seem to have come into an abundance of contaminated fuel :-X ::) Petrol:Diesel mix, probably about 80:20, possibly even more petrol than that. Anyone know what I need to change to be able to burn it (if anything) or a safe ratio of this contaminated fuel to Kerosene (or any other fuel) ??? ???

I'm interested in the answers as it could easily save me a lot of money heating the house/water ;)

Just to add, I've spoken to several of the other guys who have oil fired heating and an abundance of contaminated fuel so I'm intrigued to hear what others think :y

...but what's happened with the pink peril ??? He's now showing as posted as a guest ::)

Has he hit the wrong button or just finally decided he's had enough here? ???

Hopefully the former (as we know he has a habit of hitting wrong buttons) :-X But if not... All the best Dazzle and keep in touch :y :y
