Not quite an omega but it's old brother the senator! I recently bought a 2nd hand R25-28 manual box as I'm going to change my senator over to manual.  ......

 :( :(

The car is trying to tell you it wants to keeps being an auto!  ;) ;)

It'll pay for that! Every time it changes up I'll just kickdown again :)

Omega General Help / More gearbox issues

Not quite an omega but it's old brother the senator! I recently bought a 2nd hand R25-28 manual box as I'm going to change my senator over to manual.

trouble I'm having is the main shaft only turns about 1 spline before locking. I thought maybe the box was in gear as the selector mechanism was loosened off for transportation but I've tried quite a bit of force to turn the mainshaft and it's not moving. I've tried resetting the selector mechanism and it feels like it's in neutral but it's not moving. It's not as if the box is seized as the shaft moves a spline then clunks into something and doesn't move. Praying it is in reverse and just tight to move.

Hopefully I've not bought a lemon. I'm just wondering if it isn't stuck in gear then what are the things that could be causing this?

Thanks

G

It's just more evidence that Britain is totally and utterly broken.  >:(
.

Quote from a newspaper today " The world is laughing at the fragile state of the UK after yesterday's fiasco at Heathrow airport"

At least we're giving everyone a giraffe!

Is the snsor just popped off or wet?  suspect latter, and its constantly cycling through broken/good
I had the whole arm off for refurb and never put sensor back and as was going to just try and replace the system. I might just put the switch back on for now.
???

I should have said leave the sensor off and hope it doesn't complain  :y

Replace the system with what ???

With nothing, I didn't put the sensor back on.

This stems from I need to fix the adjuster thing on the LH wishbone for headlight aim. In the meantime whenever I get the warning I just tap the bottom left steering mounted switch to turn the warning off. Recently after the car being laid up for a bit over winter it now doesn't turn off when I click the switch, any ideas why it won't turn off now? Is this the car getting pissed off I'm not fixing it?!

Cheers

Mm, that’s how conspiracy theories start and of course however unlikely, sometimes,  there’s no smoke without fire. No pun intended.

And the city fire brigade went woke  :y

Your 2.6 still looks really good.  :y

Luton registration.  Quite a popular place to register Vauxhall's in the past. Be Peugeot soon.

My 2.6 CD is also KW02, but is now far away in Scotland!
