Omega General Help / WIM

Hi guys, hope you’re all well.

So I’ve got loads of stuff done in the omega ready for the summer shows.

Following suspension parts being fitted it’s definitely knocked the tracking out. Went on WIM site and it appears they’re no longer going. Anybody know if they’ve moved elsewhere or that them just finito?

Omega General Help / ATP

Good evening men, hope you’re all well.

Sprucing up a load of things on the omega. I’m currently fitting the atp 6 piece wishbone kit. I know they get mixed reviews but I’ve used them and personally never had a problem.

Anyhoo, I came across a load of other parts they sell… front shockers and springs in particular.

Anyone ever fitted them and got some feedback on their performance? Mine are, I believe, still the originals on the front.

Omega General Help / Speedo and rev counter not working.

Good evening chaps, hope you’re all well.

As above, speedo and rev counter not working and both needles “quivering” 😱
Temp gauge and fuel level work fine.
No ABS or TC light on.

I’m guessing this is an issue with the instrument cluster. I used to send any cluster away to Ecu testing or BBA but I’m informed they apparently can’t do anything with it.

Apologies if I’ve raised this issue before but it started working again but now it’s permanently inoperative. Is the general consensus to replace the cluster or is there any obvious repair that I can do?

Omega General Help / Flickering oil pressure light

Hi guys. Hope ur all well.

When omegas been run for a while and cars been running a while I get a flickering oil pressure light. I’ve bought a new switch as my first port of call. However if this isn’t the problem and it really is a pressure problem it looks like I’ll be checking the strainer. Do you know if I can get access with just the oil pan removed.

Also I haven’t been under the omega for a while as I’m not using it as my daily anymore… is the pan just a load of 10 mils? Or is it more complicated 🤦‍♂️

Currently in Iceland 🇮🇸 on my holibobs. Been looking out for omegas as I always do.. then I thought.. were they even available here?

There are a lot of new cars, leccy cars etc. however there are a lot of old shitters too. Seen a fair few Astra H’s in HB and estate form. Seen quite a few Suzuki Leannas lol

Omega General Help / Speedo and rev counter not working

Good afternoon guys, hope you’re all well.

Haven’t driven the omega for a while and I’m using it over the Christmas period. Drives beautiful as always. But no speedo and no rev counter. Temp and fuel gauges still working. And the rev needle is flickering really fast.

I’m hoping it’s not the start of ABS ECU needing doing but if it is I’ll have to make time for it. Any ideas?

Oh and no ABS or TC lights on, just the issue with the dials 🥰🥰🥰

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / Wanted: various small parts

Hi guys.
I am genuinely the most forgetful moron ever. I’ve lost a couple of bits and want to replace them…

On the rear bumper you’ve got those 4 x little colour coded covers for the 4 x T30 bolts. I’ve lost two of those little covers if anyone had a couple. Ideally star silver but no problem at all if not as I can paint them.

Secondly the Ecotec plenum cover. Mines the short 2.5 plenum.

Evening all.

I may have asked this in the past (sorry if I’m repeating myself) but what paint can I use to brighten up the intake plenum. What colour and type of paint ?
I want original look. I think it was originally a light grey. But I’ve seen some that are a lot whiter 🤷‍♂️

General Car Chat / My Omega

… is back on the road after a year of being SORN’d. Had a shed load of welding to do. Got it MOT’d today and taxed… £341 for the year 🤢

It’ll be doing a lot less miles now as I have a little fiesta as my daily. It’s currently on 135k.. barely broken in 😃

The drive compared to the fiesta is just so comfortable. Absolutely worth keeping it going!

Omega General Help / Welding

Hi guys. Long time no speak. Not been about for a while. Been so busy with work.

Anyway omega needs some TLC. Rear outer sills rotted. And inner wheel arches. And panel that forms side of the inner boot… all roughly the same on both sides. Anyway my welding skills are to a point I can do this myself. But just gonna take me a while. Car’s been SORNd but I keep running it and making sure brakes don’t stick on etc.

The warmer weather is coming so starting to think about prepping.

My question is this… I want a real sturdy place to put stands. It’s gonna have to sit on them for a while. I remember when gixer did my rear springs ears ago he had them somewhere either side of the diff. Obviously want to keep sills free so I can easily move around them.

Omega General Help / Overheating almost

Word men. Hope u r all good.

2.5 v6. Owned this car for many years now. Know it like the back of my hand. When on motorway it sits exactly at 90 degrees. Maybe touch under.

Round town and traffic etc. it creeps up to 95. Fans kick in. Down to 85. It then creeps up to 95. Fans cut in. And repeat.

Now a few times around town it’s creeping up to 105. Fans cut in and it doesn’t go in the red.

Obviously the fans work. However am i right that there are two can switches.. one for standard fan speed and one for omg about to explode speed. I’m guessing the standard speed one is playing up.

So 2 questions… 1.) which is the fan switch that I need to replace and 2.) is there any other possibilities?

No coolant loss or anything odd other than this 👍

Hi guys hope ur all good. Got CC gaskets to do over next weekend. And I will be changing ht leads. Where do u guys get yours from? I’ve just had some utter shite from MPD that I refuse to use 🤣 so they’re going back! And struggling to locate any from other suppliers. Help please men
