I suggest get it out the mits of the garage, paper clip it and post the results.

We can then work through any fault codes.
I`d also suggest a weekend cleaning breathers, IACV, EGR Valve etc.

O2 sensors and rockers are also easily do-able at home.

Just a case of working away through the issues...

yep under skuttle,

Is the wiper motor physically jumping, its maybe just loose and worth checking the bolts are nice and tight.

Think there are three holding it in and also an electrical connector

The precautions being? I was hoping to be able to pull the wires, drill out the rivets, replace the regulator and attempt to put it all back together as easy as it came apart!

What you are thinking of is fairly spot on.

As per precautions - I always disconnect the battery when dealing with anything like this. Its also advisable to wait for 10 minutes ( according to Haynes) after disconnecting the battery.

Personally i leave it a bit longer just to be safe.

« on: 13 July 2006, 16:22:51 »
always have a haynes but i always second opion anything in it i have not done or am unsure of. There not always right and sometimes, just sometimes, they can be inaccurate or overcomplicate things.

Books are dear £15 is as cheap as you will get "high street" and even on ebay second hand they can reach £10 plus £3-4 postage.

If your lucky and patient you will get one for a tenner delivered, from ebay. Like i did  :)

Omega General Help / Re: Coolent Level Displayed
« on: 01 August 2008, 15:13:09 »
If the level is fine then its the sensor ( plugged into the underside) of the coolant tank thats possibly fauty.

Level is detected by a float in the coolant tank - check its moving i.e "floating"

Are we talking oily residue or thick mayo type oil in the header tank?

Sounds from early description that it may be oil cooler failure related....but depends on what you define as "oil" in header tank.

More info on the header tank would help  :y

Absolutely.

Your Omega will choose to excercise Sods Law when your away and will simply not start - but will crank...

Easy job to do and if you can at least take a spare crank sensor with you. I see to recal a certain member being stuck in France after such a failure  :-X

Omega General Help / Re: Oil light on when ticking over.
« on: 28 July 2008, 17:07:42 »
I`d still be investigating this.

If the oil level was correct and its now been rectified by oil and filter change then fair enough and good for you :y

However i guess you cant be certain it will remain off.

I`d be checking the oil pressure swithc and as indicated dropping the sump to give the internals a tidy up. The strainer can block reducing the flow of oil. Youd be amazed at what can gather donw there  :y

can anybody tell me if one of the lamda oxygen sensors was knackered would it show up on the engine managment fault light.

Possibly :-/  it may do as there is a fault code for it.

Would also perhaps show up on emmissions at MOT time.

Definative way of checking is via paperclip test as it will show up on that - codes are here > http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1160152415
