Hi a big thank you to you all, you were spot on, My wife took the haynes manual and kit to the car ( she normaly does sit on lawn mower engines) and stripped it down to the cam belt, and yes the inlet cam on the right bank was well out, so she took the old cam belt off, got all of the timing marks set and put a brand new cam belt kit on. It now goes like a rocket, I dont drive it now, I just aim it and press the peddle. My wife done it all in 4 hours (not bad for a woman)
So with the info from all of you lot and the work from my wife I am on the road again. :y So in any of you are in Northampton and see a dark Green Omega Estate going at hyper speed with some people hanging on in side, it it me.
                    Thank you all ;)
                  Jason

ill be in the green saloon behind you then  ;D

well done to Mrs Wheelchair

I think you need a 4 way brake switch here.  As a temporary bodge, try bridging out the two unused terminals on the 4 way brake switch socket (paperclip should do the trick).  with a bit of luck the cruise should work
For what it's worth  I don't think the Haynes diagram is quite right on the cruise wiring anyway.  i've got a late '99 reflection and I don't think my wiring agrees with the diagram

woot !!
paper clip dodge worked. round to the stealers on my next day off then :)
thank you all :)

Does this help?

it did. read it many times  ;D
even made up my nice cruise control module / elecy water pump mount as per the pics.
was confused as old car had 2 terminal switch, i know the post says you need a 4 pin switch, put the picture "looks"like a 2 terminal one  ;D
thats why i asked if i need a 4 way switch or a new module/rewire ..

« on: 08 March 2007, 08:06:58 »
anyone any good at deciphering them,or it could be 3 oclock in the morning was not a good time to try :)

im fitting cruise to my minifacelift mv6,stolen form my old m reg elite.
its not working yet ::)
looked at the haynes din wire diagram , noticed the early and late are wired difrently. does this mean i need a new cc module from a later omega, or will fitting a new 4 way brake light switch sort it all out for me.(the switch in the mv6 has 2 terminals, with a 4 way socket .)
the brake light in the old elite also only had 2 terminals.
ill check its plug later.not sure if 2 or 4 way .....

edit.... the old elite has only 2 wires going to the brake light switch, mv6 defo has 4  :o

Omega General Help / tyre size by model.
« on: 10 March 2007, 10:52:37 »
manage to get my head round one problem, and another one pops into my head.

what tyre sizes should i be fitting to my mv6 ?

drivers disinformation book doesnt list the mv6 just the elite (16inch wheels )

another well known site lists the mv6 as 235/45 WR 17 ultra-low profile tyres

and on the car ive got 225/45/17's  (p7000's)

what have the other mv6 owners shod theres in ?

and theres an idea for the tech spec section, a list of tyre size to model ranges :)

anyone bored of my randomness yet ??
 ;D

sorted mt ecc problems as per my previous rantings.

during my cough lunch break cough last night i had another fiddle in the passenger foot well. was pokeing around behind the servo on the air distribution box, found a long plastic arm flaping around behind it, hmm that dont look right i thinks.
snapped a peice of the center consule trying to get a better look. :-[
but managed to remove servo and refit arm, refit servo.

and praise who ever, but now the passenger side gets warm air. that should help demist my screen, and stop swmbo moaning about the cold.

happy chappy .

now onto a atf change i think.....

I use the same loctite sealent that is listed in the diff oil chaneg Maintenance guide, its easy tog et (even Halfords do it.

As a tip, drain as much fluid as you can out of the level plus first....then remove most of the main sump bolts with the exception of the 4 corners. Then wind the two remaining bolts which are closest to the level plug almost fully out and slowly release the other two (the sump should tip so more fluid comes out of the dain hole, you might have to encourage the gasket seal to break).

The front sump is slightly more difficult to drain but, follow the bolt removal method above to kepp it as clean as possible.

Whilst you clean the sump assemblies look for foreign objects and check the magnet for excessive swarf, make sure you put something under the gearbox as it will continue to drip oil...(a cat litter tray is very good although I use a cement mixing spot).

Its an easy job.....just smelly!

you think thats smelly. try taking a torque converter/fluidflywheel apart from a bus after some fat bus driver decided he didnt want to go out that day and spent 20 minutes with his foot on the throttle and the park brakes on in gear.
took nearly a week to wash that smell away

nope. was not working before the bulb change, half the reason i did that was to see if board was dead or alive.
thats what im trying to get my head round, in the days before i could afford cars with air con.  :'( the blower temp was controled by a flap diverting more or less "fresh" air than air coming from the heater box.
is there something in there doing the same job,or is it all done by some all seeing air con evaperator  trickery

comercial refrigeration is so much easyer  ;D
