He's sort of right, probably without realising. I bet he knows sod all about MIDs, and there configs.
However, the earlier MIDs (radio display on top line) have less capabilities than the later ones (radio display further down) - changeover period appears to be around 1997. As far as I can work out, it is not possible to get the older ones working with some of features of newer cars, eg HIDs...
Ring dealer, ask how much...
Visit dealer, walk in workshop bit, and see if you can bribe a mechanic, saying you need your MID configured with Code Index x (I can supply the index number) - need year, mid type (radio display above FC or below), transmission, possibly tyres size, HID etc
Or if dealer really expensive, find out how much postage is, as I can program (while I've still got Proj TB1) for a few quid - I suspect the postage each way plus my cost (alas, I have to charge to recoup some of Tech2 costs ) may make it a bit expensive
QuoteJust installed a working MID in mineIf its an older MID, then its for 2.0l Auto

Manifold leaks are usually a ticking noise when cold....is it a tick or more a tap....if you see what i mean.
My only advice is really is if you do go for changing manifold gasket....is soak the manifold studs in penetrating oil the evening before you do the job....you dont want to go snapping a stud off....that will be bad
Try a long screwdriver on the rocker cover bolts. Put the handle against your ear and the tip of the screw driver on the cam cover bolts. You'll be able to hear each tappet.
You'll know if you have a bad tappet(s). Good ones don't make much noise, bad ones are loud when you do this.
I am sure i have read somewhere that knackerd EGR valves can make tapping noise when cold so for a easy check/fix try unpluging the connector on that whilst running when cold hope this helps :-/Thanks, definitely worth a try and cheap
