I suspect she's long past relocating.  ::)

Unless of course you mean the tourist submersible that's gone awol... Like any adventure sport, there were always risks attached, and whilst it would be nice, if only for the relatives, for it to be found, it's extremely unlikely to be a positive outcome.

I have a rule, other than driving, I won't use any form of transport that doesn't have a drinks service.

It generally helps me to avoid such situations  ;)

You might reconsider... Although not going to Egypt in the first place would mitigate much of the issue ::)

Everyone should take one (and only one) trip to Egypt, to see the Pyramids, Sphinx, and Cairo museum.
We were in and out on the same day and imo thats the way to do it.

The stupid yanks are holding up a proper rescue now by the UK the people who mapped 700.000 images together last year of the ship and have the only vessel that’s able to possibly winch it up. They won’t let them fly out from Guernsey apparently……..

Looking at the rusty arse end of the support ship that they launch the submersible from, i'd be a bit concerned exactly how professional this Ocean Gate enterprise really are. Especially for a cool £250k a pop.  ???

Probably because Guernsey isn't in the EU or UK... Not that anything  capable of flying to the US could ever take off from Guernsey.

Although it does rather smack of superpower arrogance, much like the Communists when the Kursk overheated.

That and the fact it's controlled using a playstation controller would have been red flags for me I think...

Mrs TB wants to do Cairo, as she has a fascination with all things (ancient) Egyptian.  We did one of those Nile cruises from Luxor to Aswan and back, so all the temples, Valley of the Kings, Valley of the Queens etc, then each day watched the sun go down from the top deck of the boat, which conveniently had a bar.....

Oh, and a balloon trip over the wets bank of the Nile (so over Valley of Kings/Queens and Hatshepsut's mortuary temple) as the sun rose.

Downside of such a trip is I accidentally brushed my teeth in tap water on the boat one morning, which caused the "taps to open" for a few days ;D

When we were in Morocco, albeit a short stay, when we went out on a group tour they always sent a bodyguard with us. Read in to that what you will.  :-X
On the plus side, not that far from the nice bits, he will see goats that climb trees, paupers selling bags of carrots on the side of the road miles from anywhere and plenty of houses with no roof.  ::)

I have to say, I really like Morocco. Admittedly in a nice hotel. But even walking around, I've never felt unsafe. Women need to take care with how they dress. It's possibly the most "open" and liberal of the Arab countries. Don't forget how the hippies, artists, and rock stars flocked there in the 60's.

I'm guessing it would have been very quick with the water pressure down there.

Hopefully it was instantaneous. So quick they didn't even realise what was happening.  :-\

Corporate manslaughter and perhaps personal charges for the CEO would be a staring point.

Well, at the risk of being called a heartless tosser by LZ, they knew the risks, and if they didn't, they got what they deserved.

No different to, say, bungie jumping or parachuting or single seater motorsport.  And that is evidently part of the excitement and thrill of it.

I believe that the " passengers" had to agree to some kind of waiver in the event of the trip going tits up, be interesting to see how it all goes, I think one look at the submersible would have sent alarm bells ringing for me.

Just burn some bigger holes with oxy-acetylene. You can probably find some sucker who will pay to do the job for you. Wickes*** will sell you some acrylic to stick over the new holes, and the clear silicone to do it with.

James Cameron says his sources heard a 'loud bang' too
Filmmaker and underwater enthusiast James Cameron has told Reuters in a Zoom interview that his sources reported hearing a “loud bang” on Sunday, similar to the US Navy’s report that it heard an underwater “anomaly” near the wreck of the Titanic on Sunday.

Cameron said he knew the Titan submersible was lost from the start, suspecting it imploded at the time the Titan’s support vessel lost communications one hour and 45 minutes into the mission.

“We got confirmation within an hour that there had been a loud bang at the same time that the sub comms were lost. A loud bang on the hydrophone. Loss of transponder. Loss of comms. I knew what happened. The sub imploded,” Cameron said.

He added that he told colleagues in an email on Monday, “We’ve lost some friends,” and, “It’s on the bottom in pieces right now.” The five who died mark the first deep-sea fatalities for the industry, Ca

I looks to me like the press are giving the lost subs construction an overly negative view (are we surprised!)

Various people now coming out to say about their doubts regarding the Titan. Shouting earlier and louder might have helped.
